Buy it!!!
This is a great little TV. I got an external antenna for it, and it helped me get a lot more channels--in fact more than I was getting on my little more regular sized analog TV with a converter box that I had in the bedroom. This takes 4 AA batteries, and on Ebay I bought a power cord for it that is 8 feet long for when there is no emergency & no need to use batteries. The reception is great. I bought the refurbished TV, so I got a great buy on a color TV with sharp picture details. This is such a bargain.

Sporty, cute tv that's great for emergencies or just viewing tv in bed.
This is the best little, portable tv that I ever owned, very clear reception and very easy to operate. It took me less than 10 minutes to start programming my favorite tv channels into the tv. Loud sound , although a little fuzzy, might sound better with little speakers attached to the headphone jack. I will definitely order one more just as a spare. Be careful handling the thin antenna though, very fragile, but a small inconvenience. Well, worth the price. I also, loved the screen size, big enough for me. Great for people who have to have there tv no matter where they're at. Also, pretty sturdy casing, which I was shocked because other people who wrote reviews complained about the tv being flimsy, maybe they meant the red mini tv, I brought the silver one. Highly recommend this product. Have a wonderful day.

Avoid this item.
Took a chance, and ignored several prior reviews. Big mistake. Wanted this item to use in case of power failure. First, no channels will come in in our area (MA, USA) using just the built-in antenna that comes with the set. So, bought an additional antenna (the August DTA206 Digital TV Extendable Antenna) to use as a back-up/supplement. The problem is that the RCA DHT235A, while it has an additional antenna input, only will accept RCA connectors, which appear to be unavailable. So, had to order a PAL connector from Hong Kong. While cheap, it takes from 3-4 weeks to arrive, and it has not come yet. We will see how things go when it does. One other thing: the screen is hypersensitive to scratches, which it seems to have developed despite gentle handling. All in all, a lot of work for an item I expect to use only a couple times a year. A friend suggests that these small TVs became unviable when channels all converted to digital a few years ago. I think that perhaps he is right. Suggest you avoid the hassle by avoiding the product altogether.

Great TV
This little tv is just what I was looking for. I love the fact that I can use batteries. In fact, this is the only tv I found out there that did not have an internal rechargable battery, which make no sense when you are using it for emergency purposes. When the lights go out you have no electricity and you must plug in those internal rechargable tvs in to an electrical outlet. We all know that when the product is not in use, there is no battery backup available, we must have an electrical source to recharge it. This tv gets all the major channels, abc, cbs, fox, nbc plus 24 other cable channels. I can't believe it! I was so happy to see the picture/sound quailty and I love the way they hide the antena and the little stand in the back. The picture display on the amazon website does not do it justice because you don't know that there's a stand on the back and you are left wondering how it would stand or do I have to purchase a stand. You don't have to buy an extra antena unless you really want to the one attached to the tv works just fine. Also, the battery life is good. I played it for hours and I still have battery life. However, I have since purchased the ac home/car adapter. I read a lot of the reviews before I purchased this tv and I wasn't sure if I made a good choice with some of those ratings and reviews. I just know that I'm happy with mine and I do not intend to return it. I guess it's location, location, location on how well your area gets reception. If you are looking for an emergency tv, this is the one to buy.

Great little TV marred by scratch on screen
Its a great TV -- if you buy the accessories. What's great: Runs on AA Batteries, the ONLY portable TV that does so, making it suitable for disaster use when there are no power sources available. Earthquakes and hurricanes come to mind. Has input ports for a DC power source, and external antenna connector. What's not great is that you have to go out and find these (see other reviews for sources). I had to buy the DC power source, and antenna connector gadget separately. Also there is no protective cover for the screen, it got a nasty scratch on it fairly quick. I am using an old T-shirt now to cover it up and protect it. Sigh. That being said, in that configuration the TV works great. I use it three times a week at Dialysis (or rather, my Mom uses it) to pass the time. Plug it into the wall, connect the external antenna (I used the Homeworx mini flat antenna) and she can watch ME-TV on Channel 56.3 here in Orange County CA. Sound can fade in and out and pixilation when people walk behind her but its better than the limited stuff she has from the provided TV. Back in the day, RCA used to make a nice set of analog mini TVs this size that ran on AA batteries. It was quite useful to me in the kitchen and so on. It even had a little extendable stand so you could stand it up. This does not have that, obviously being digital it has a nicer picture but less battery life and more sensitivity, less graceful degradation of the picture as in analog. But it gets the channel my Mom wants to watch at dialysis and that's what matters. If you want a small TV with a nice picture, decent sound particularly on headphones. with available but not included accessories like an external antenna connector, and power supply, this is the one. And I did mention it runs on AA batteries? FWIW I have not used the internal antenna. It is amazingly fragile and uses a dipole, far inferior to the reception got with the $10 or so flat Homeworx Mini antenna (like a mini Mohu Leaf I guess).

Nice TV ! ... But Very Easy Screen Scratch
I bought this Tv and the Quality of Image is very nice. I use with my Cable Company Coaxial getting only the first 13 channels (Suppouse that others dont work on this TV). I have a aceptable reception with Internal Antenna. I down 2 stars cause the screen is very easy to scratch without you do some severe thing for that. For example if you clean rubbing against a clean cotton shirt, or over the leg in a jean, or if you try quit some dirty spot from screen with your fingers...you will see a very lot of scratch, lines and marks in this device screen. The scratchs dont affect to much when the unit is turned on but they are not nice for eye looking of the unit. The other things is that the unit is very light without batteries making very easy that turn, move when you conect to adaptor and use the stand stick. If you can live with that i recommended this TV.

Prime Standard Sunday Morning Delivery!!!
Terrific! Wanted a 'Hurricane" Emergency TV and most of them were rechargeable, not what I needed. This one takes four AA's which being what I use most, means I get 48 packs for $6 bucks or so and always have plenty on hand. Works fine in my area (zip 33904) on built-in Rod Antenna and got 13 or the 24 channels available with my Amazon Mohu indoor "Leaf" antenna. Be sure to add the https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox $5.80 Coax which is needed to connect standard external antenna cable. After connecting to my Mohu with a 'splitter' http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00108UNEY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it received all 24 channels. The Color Picture Quality is excellent, larger than my iPhone and sound is great as well. The built-in telescope antenna pulls out from left side and below that is the port (with a rubber plug) for the OAT. Below that is an 1/8" earphone jack, it's labeled "Dolby DIGITAL DTV" Right side has a jack for 5 Volt DC Aux Power, which I will never use and would expect a USB to 1/8" patch cord would be best. On the back is an easy door for the 4 AA battery compartment and a large slide-up power switch. It sits level on a counter and there is a pop-out Stand to tilt it back at an angle on a counter if wanted. The Main Control Buttons are on Front to right of screen and consist of Menu at top, then channel-up or menu-up, then left-right for volume or menu selection, then Channel-down or menu-down and "Enter" at bottom. Six buttons to do it all. The built-in Speaker is on lower left corner of front. Just exactly what I needed.

NOT USEABLE FOR PURPOSE PURCHASED
I purchased this little battery-powered TV to be used during hurricane season to keep informed when the power is out. It seemed to be the perfect product for this purpose (easy to use, good picture, etc.). However, it would not program and access our local broadcast channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX), only a number of Spanish language channels and a PBS channel. Tech support at the supplier could not resolve this issue, so I returned the TV.
