Just what I expected it to be
I live in a "junior one bedroom" apartment which means that there is a 3-walled sleeping alcove, about 8 x 10 feet with my bed and a little bedroom furniture in it. The only window in my apartment is quite a distance away in the living room. So I've found, for the past 22 years, that I need some kind of fan running the bedroom to provide air circulation while sleeping. Otherwise it gets stuffy and warm in the alcove. I've run through quite a few fans in 22 years. This one is just what I need -- I have a small table and I need a smaller fan that will fit on the corner of the table. This desktop tower fan has a small enough footprint for that. Also, it's pretty quiet. I'm used to a certain amount of "white noise" from a fan -- it helps me sleep, in fact -- but a lot of fans I've tried are so noisy I can't get to sleep. I've been using this on the medium setting and in the small "bedroom" alcove, it's the right amount of air and just the right amount of white noise, fairly quiet, but enough to screen out background noises. If there's a heat wave, no doubt I'll switch it to the higher setting. I like the controls, two micro-touch buttons arranged in an almost triangular whole. The larger of the two buttons is the power/speed button. One push from "off" and it's on the high speed setting and one more push steps it down to medium, and a third push steps it down to the low fan setting. One more push turns it off again. The translucent button glows green from an underlying LED when the power is on. The smaller button turns the oscillation feature on and off -- again, when the oscillation is turned on, the button glows green. (I don't use the oscillation feature myself.) One other nifty feature is that the body of the fan is in two sections -- the top section can be swiveled manually so that the air flow is directed in two different directions for wider coverage. In other words, you can aim the lower part in one direction and aim the upper part in a different direction. Me, I have them both aimed in the same direction to get the air directed at my bed where I want it. It's not a fan suitable for providing air movement in a large space as others have observed, but in an office cubicle or in a small sleeping space such as mine, it's spot on. In smaller spaces like that, a larger and more powerful fan could be too loud and might provide too much blowing air for comfort. The one odd thing is that the "platinum" color (which is white, actually) costs a bit less than the charcoal grey/black model, even though the features are otherwise identical. (I went with the platinum since it cost less and either color was fine with me.)

Really Love This Lasko Wind Tower Oscillating Fan!!!!!!!
I've been intending to write a review ever since I first unpacked this wonderful fan and plugged it in!First of all, I love the feature where the top and bottom halves of the fan can oscillate in different directions if you choose that option. It's also very quiet, and puts out quite a bit of cool air within about 30". And it doesn't take up much space; I put in on my kitchen counter in front of a long, narrow window. I have been using it this summer early in the morning - 5am! - to bring some cool air into the kitchen which never cools down much during the night because the evaporative cooler doesn't reach the kitchen/dining rooms at the west end of the house. LOL! Also turning it on early evening after the sun sets.Lasko makes good products - I love their "wind tunnel" fans with the blue safety plugs that won't let the fan turn on if there is a problem I think either with the outlet or fan. I also have their wind tunnel pedestal floor fan sold here on Amazon which really puts out the air even on the lowest setting. I put it at the end of where the evaporative cooler reaches, and it pulls the cool air into the second half of the living room stopping at the kitchen! Need to write a separate review for it.Anyway, I hope it works forever! And that the company never discontinues it; I would certainly recommend it for a small space. And might purchase another one as a spare!!!!!

Promising white noise Lasko fan
Nicely designed, futuristic lasko fan with three settings and a 45° oscillation. There is also the choice of pivoting the two-part fan so the top and bottom fan slightly differing arcs as it pivots, which I've never seen before. When you turn the fan on, it's on high, hit the on/off button a second time, that's medium, and a third time is, quelle surprise, low. I bought the fan for white noise, and am pleased with the levels available in terms of noise strength. I measured the highest setting with a decibel meter, and it runs between 58 and 60 decibels.Lasko has been a quality brand in the past, I can only hope this fan measures up. From some of the reviews, it seems to be a roll of the dice how long a given fan lasts. Crossing fingers.Excellent for various levels of white noise. Don't waste your money on an over-priced white noise machine, this lasko is great.

Perfect!
This is a perfect fan for the kids’ room. It has some serious torque because you can definitely feel the air circulating in both directions. We point one fan head towards each bed and it keeps the kids, and the room very comfortable all night. It has 3 speeds and the highest speed is definitely on the louder side - which works perfectly for us, because it’s almost like having a great noise machine in the room. We considered buying a separate sound machine, but read reviews for this and bought this one since many reviewers had mentioned the noise level. If you keep it on low, it’s much quieter. We’ve had the fan for a little over two weeks now and it’s perfect so far!We have a small guest room and will be purchasing one for that room as well because it takes up no floor space, but you don’t have to compromise on air circulation at all!Don’t think twice, get it!
