Strongly recommended
This base plate is an essential part for the Canon XF300/305 models. Both cameras come with a single screw plate, which works fine, but when you mount over $5,000 worth of gear and expect a 1/4 screw to hold it all. Do the math. This $35 plate is a small price to pay.
