BaoFeng Dual Push-to-Talk (PTT) Speaker Mic for UV-82 Series - Backward Compatible

Fantastic addition to the BaoFeng UV82 radios. You can simply clip the mic on your shirt collar or lapel for easy access. The mic works flawlessly and allows you to hear the radio while it's in your back pocket or on your belt loop. If I had one complaint it would be that the method of attaching the mic to the radio allows the mic to come loose from the radio. It doesn't happen often, but it has happened during heavy activity.

Works well with my PoFung (yes, mine says PoFung on it instead of BaoFeng) UV-82. The top button for selecting between two active frequencies is handy. No reports of low signal strength or over modulation. This is an inexpensive speaker mic for an inexpensive HT. it's lighter in your hand than you'd expect. The clip on the back of it looks like it may break off any day now. The coils are tighter than you'd expect with the lightness of the mic, so there's an odd balance in the feel that takes getting used to, but that may change with time. I bought it to work around reported issues with the internal mic placement on the BaoFeng HT's, but it works well enough so far that I've ordered a Nagoya magnetic vehicle antenna and may make this part of a temporary in-car rig.

I use my UV-82HP for car-to-car communication during club outings. It's difficult to hear others during top-down drives without an external speaker. I'd been using an earpiece that was increasingly uncomfortable. This speaker-microphone helps me hear without holding the radio and makes it easy to transmit. The sound is loud and clear while others report that my transmissions are clear as well. I'm very pleased with the functionality and quality of this product.

Feels cheaply made, but it does have dual PTT with small button on top. Speaker mic does have decent sound & volume, but not quite worth the $16+ as the reinforcement near 2 prong connector is very weak & will break under typical use requiring extra caution. This is a niche speaker-mic so if you do not absolutely need a dual PTT you should look elsewhere otherwise this is 1 of 2 (that I've found so far) available in the dual PTT design. 04Oct15 After purchasing the other design (it had a speaker jack at bottom of mic) I'm back to ordering another of these as at least with this one both PTT buttons work reliably & you have more than 9" of usable length. From my personal use of both designs I hope somebody makes a third, but until that happens this is the better of the 2. At least with this one the cord is long enough for me to use it with the radio still clipped to my belt, even though the other has a more robust connection at the 2 pin.

This unit works great. A good addition to your H.T. Also, customer service is fantastic. I had an issue with a broken lapel clip and was replaced without question within a couple of days. Can't get customer service like that anywhere else in my experience!

The one I got was pretty poor in transmit audio quality. Enough so that I cut off the the cable for later use and tossed the mic in the trashcan. The problem is that what is pictured is not necessarily what you will receive. I ordered another version (ASIN: B008RZ0EQ0) and it too has problems but certainly better than this one. It seems these are a crap shoot. When talking directly into the radio without the speaker mic, transmit audio reports are 100% positive.

It seems in this model and the single PTT model that is the same in appearance (as well as internally) the hole for the mic is displaced laterally and the element is aft and away from the wrongly placed hole in the front. The result is weak, hollow sounding audio. The only fix is to disassemble the unit, make a hole for the mic in the correct location and extend the mic up from the circuit board by extending its leads. The mic should fit up to the front of the casing so it's close to the hole. If you're reasonably adept at doing this and have a shop already setup for such work, it will take 10-15 minutes. The difference in sound quality is well worth the effort. I don't see why the unit was made this way in the first place unless of course they made an error in the process and only discovered it after a bazillion of them were already made in China.

This microphone is larger than the Baofeng BF-S112 microphone (the one with the red transmit LED incorporated into the mic) This mic is dual PTT designed for Baofeng/Pofung radios that have the dual PTT functions on their radios. This microphone is also backward compatible with all Baofeng radios that use the single PTT function. Works great! I recommend it.
