Tried and true
I bought this pastry cutter to replace one that was exactly like it, but from the 90s. After trying a different, more modern, fancier pastry cutter, I realized some things really don't need much (if any) improvement. I needed a pastry cutter that could cut shortening very finely into flour, and the close-set wire design of this pastry cutter does that job perfectly. Newer, wide-set blade style pastry cutters simply cannot do that, and what they are capable of I prefer to do by hand; it's virtually impossible to do by hand what this tool can do.

Better than a fork!
This was on a list of tools I had to buy for an 8th grade cooking class in Jr. High. That was in 1967. Before they taught me how, I always used a fork to make pie crusts (taught by Mom). This is a game changer for pastry. It's also great with mushy fruits and vegs. My old one gave out a few times and my talented husband fixed it up until this year it was unfixable. Good price, comfy to use, never steered me wrong!

Very happy with it!
update: I liked this at first. It has turned out to not be good. The wires move alot and they bend. The fram just isnt strong enough and the wires are too thin. It isnt as nice as the one my mom had years ago. I still would like to have one this size for small mixing bowls. It just seems like no one makes one like that. I really like this blender. I was not sure at first. My mom had a wire one. This is the perfect size too for what I wanted. It cleaned up much easier than the bladed blender. I usually don't make big batches of stuff. This fits my small mixing bowl perfectly. I think I will keep both for now. Very happy with it.

Much better than using a fork or large spoon, this breaks down the ingredients, the flour and shortening to where it looks like it' supposed to before adding the liquids. Helps me make great biscuits!
