In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Surprisingly fantastic!
Once you get the sizing down, the shoe fits beautifully and performs well. I generally wear a 10, and always order multiple sizes when ordering online to be sure I get the right fit. (Most of the time, I have to send ALL of them back, as something isn't quite right.) In this shoe, I had to -- for first time ever -- order a 10 1/2. It fits perfectly with a rather thin sock. Have been wearing these for pickleball both inside and outside and they have performed well and were comfortable (no break in) right out of the box. This is VERY unusual for me to have shoes where both right and left shoe fit well/comfortably. They are leather, and very reasonably priced. Low key, classic design. Because the fit was spot on, I ordered a 2nd pair right away to keep for the future -- leather ASICS tennies for $35? -- price couldn't be beat.

Love these shoes
Love these shoes! They are great for playing on the Pickleball court outside. Insole is easily removed so you can use your own inserts.2 months later........I changed my 5 starts to 2 stars because after wearing these shoes for a couple of weeks I noticed that there was a difference in how the each shoe felt. I cannot determine exactly how they are different, except in one shoe after wearing for a period of time the ball of my foot hurts, and the other one is fine. It took me a while to attribute it to this particular pair of shoes. I believe there is a manufactures defect in one shoe.

Half Size up if you want room for your toes
Update July 15th: I am not sure if it was a good idea of ordering half size up. I am not used to this so I'm still don't feel safe running in the court with them. They are a little loose in the back even though I tied them hard. I guess I have to keep wearing them until I get used to. I love the color combination(pink orange and white). Not sure if is leather but it looks like it. Will see....I normally wear size 9 but decided to order half size up, and I think it was a great idea. They fit good with a little more room in the toes. I need this to avoid my toe nails turning black because of the impact every time I am stopping while playing tennis, specially on hard courts. They are a little snug on the top of my feet but I need it for stability. I am planning to wear them this weekend. Will update my review....

Good shoe for the price point
This is my first time buying Asics and all other shoes I buy an 8 and they are fine. I think these fit more snug than others but they hug good and I think as I wear them they will conform to my foot. I just wish all shoes would give us more room in the toe box because this is usually what causes foot problems. Also, they don't come up high on the ankle so if you want ankle support, you will not get it with these shoes.

These are really nice looking tennis shoes
These are really nice looking tennis shoes. I'm a "perfect" 6.5M. Even so these 6.5s are a bit snug -- cannot wear them with thick sports socks. Even thin anklets make the fit a little tight. But not so much as to be painful. Good support.

Happy with purchase
I purchased these shoes because they were on a couple of lists for the best women's shoes for tennis for 2016. They were repeatedly the least expensive of the options on the lists, so I thought I would give them a shot. I have only played on them a couple of times, but I have been really impressed. For me at least, they seemed to fit good immediately without the need to break them in. I also tend to use arch supports in my shoes, and while I think I will still add a separate arch support, I do feel that these shoes provide better arch support than most of the other shoes that I own. Time will tell how they hold up, but as for my initial impressions, I am extremely happy with these. I think they are the best shoe purchase that I have made in a while.

So far, so good.
So far, so good with these shoes. I've played pickleball a couple of times and I forgot I had on new shoes. That's a good thing--no blisters, no breaking in necessary. And they feel lighter than my previous few pairs of court shoes. If they wear well, I'll upgrade to 5 stars. Until then, I'm happy with the fit and feel of these shoes. A good value overall.

I love these shoes
I love these shoes! No break in required and they fit true to size. I always wear Asics and don't like to spend a lot of money on shoes since I play so much tennis and wear the bottoms out while the tops still look new. This is the second pair of this shoe I've bought. Great shoe and great price!
