Great product; poor packing.
First, let me rate the product. I have three of these UPS units in my house now. This series of UPS delivers output power that has a much better approximation to a true sine wave compared to many UPS units without having to spend $400. As a result, the newer PC power supplies are much happier and thus quieter and there is money left in my wallet. The battery is easy to install and change, the display is informative, and you have the option to turn off the visual display when the unit is running. The unit itself is also very quiet. There is an option to connect the UPS to a USB port on a Windows PC (don't know about Mac) with the included cable and Windows 7 or later will recognize the UPS. You can then program your PC to automatically shut down safely when the UPS is drained to a specified level. I haven't had to use that feature because we have occasional brownouts and very brief outages, but very rarely long-term power outages. In short, great product. I have three and will buy more as I need them. Second, let me rate Amazon's shipping department. Simply stated they did a poor job. The last UPS I received was in a box with very little packing material. When I took the UPS out of the box, the case was broken well beyond repair and there were bits of plastic in box that had broken off. I didn't dare even to test the thing. Surely UPS must have been too rough in handling, but there wasn't any real packing material either. The UPS didn't stand a chance. I contacted Amazon and their customer service folks got me fixed up with a replacement, but it was a hassle I wish I could have avoided. The replacement arrived OK along with more packing. How lucky do you think you are? I really like the UPS and wish I could buy it retail. I have my doubts about buying heavy and fragile items from Amazon.

Good UPS, saves equipment
I've owned this UPS for about a month so far. It reports two power events so far. One being a blackout for about 4 seconds and the other was a voltage surge. The voltage surge permanently damaged a TV which my roommate foolishly put on a power-tap instead of a surge protector and my HTPC probably would have suffered the same fate were it not for this UPS. I have my HTPC, modem and router which use ~50 watts when idle. The UPS reports ~45 minutes of battery power for this configuration. Pros: - It works, saved my electronics during a surge and kept them running during a blackout. - Respectable VA and wattage ratting. (~45min run-time @50 watts) - No fan! Quiet (sort of, see notes)! - The LCD is a nice feature to easily look at the status of the UPS. - Good looking. - APC powerchute is simple to use and seems adequate for non-industrial users. Notes: - Some other reviews are reporting a humming noise which I suspect is just transformer hum. There is a slight transformer hum in my unit, that can barely be heard when I'm less than 1 meter from the UPS. When I'm sitting on the couch (~2 meters from UPS) I can't hear it no matter how much I try to listen for it. However, my UPS is reporting a building wiring fault, which I suspect is the root cause of the problem and not something inherently wrong with the UPS itself. If you hear a hum, check the building wiring fault light, or if you know how to check for DC noise or ground loop faults in your wiring do so before blaming the unit as being faulty. - Not really APC's fault but APCUPSD (3rd part interface) doesn't have working USB drivers for windows 7, so it wont work with this device.

Solid performance
Been a fan of APC forever, both personal and business. Can't beat the ease of setup, and the Power Chute software is nifty, if a little light on substance. The local display is very useful and the auto self-test feature is good too. I have found battery life to be good, and replacement (assuming it's not a total obsolete junker) is generally easy and affordable, especially with 3rd party UPS battery suppliers. As with ALL UPS, I would underrate the power and battery life, but you know that :)

Great Device and Offers Real Peace of Mind
This was easy to install, and at this point is doing its job without a fuss. I will have to wait for an actual blackout to see the device in action. The Good: -For what it does I was happy to pay the price, and actually thought it was kind of a bargain for the peace of mind that it provides. -Protects your computer from iffy power and can automatically shut down a computer elegantly and safely during a power outage. -It is a nice looking device, I love the power meter that allows you to visually see the device status. The Bad: -While in operation there is a noticeable buzz. I was NOT expecting this. I have this in a room that I would like to keep quiet and it was much louder than I anticipated. My solution was to rearrange it behind some other items in the room to block the sound and that took care of dampening it just enough. -It is pretty large and quite heavy, but I imagine that this is a result of the battery capacity. It is too soon to make a judgement on reliability or operation in a power outage, I will update this review later when there has been time, or an power loss event. However, at this point I am very happy with the purchase, my biggest wish for an improvement would be a version that is totally silent.

Full Featured Uninterruptible Power
I've used APC UPS's for dozens of years and have had good experience. These smaller units (under 1000VA) can keep you guessing as to their reserve power. This one has a number of extra features: a)A nice big digital display showing actual input voltage, run time, watts load, and more; b) indicator lamps and displays showing other features and warnings; c) USB interface cable and software for auto computer turnoff; d) lots of power connectors. It provides voltage and surge filtering as well as brown-out protection. Of course, you can also continue running the computer for 5 or 10 minutes during a complete power failure. It often comes on for a few seconds when my laser printer first starts up but the computer runs flawlessly. I paid a few dollars extra for all of the diagnostic indicators but it has been well worth it in the assurance that it gives me that everything is working properly.

Seamless Operation in a Small Package
This is my second unit. I once lived in a rural area, where the power winked out frequently for no apparent reason so I got a much larger unit that probably weighed 40 lbs with the available back up time expressed in hours. This unit is smaller and lighter and since I live in a highrise and not yet subject to lengthy outages (although in Florida hurricanes are always possible), this handy unit will allow me to shut down properly. A problem in a large building is caused by maintenance within the building, power blinks from a few seconds to several minutes are common and never with advance warning, my reason for buying this unit. I've heard it snap on when the lights and TV blink long enough for the cable box to reboot but not long enough for the time to shut the desktop off before power returns. In the past when this happened without backup, it was always heart stopping to see what Windows did or did not manage to 'recover' along with the annoying warning that Windows 'was not shut down properly'. Now, as with the earlier heavier APC, I have the house phone base phone plugged in so at least one phone in the house works plus if a disaster occurred I could also plug in a cellphone charger.

Great Buy, Saves Headaches from Power Blips
Great product so far. Easy to install. You just remove battery cover, slid out the battery just enough to get to terminals. Just connect RED terminal and you're good to go. Honestly the only little bit of trouble i had was fitting the terminal cables in the compartment once connected. The product came with an easy to follow instruction booklet, the PowerChute PE, and the cable to connect to the UPS if wanting to do additional management settings. On initial start, the battery was 80% capacity so i only needed to charge it for less than an hour or so to get full battery cap. With all my items plugged in, i was only at 60% load. I have on the battery side: -A 650W PSU running an unRaid server (8 HDD @ 5900, 2 HDD @ 7200) -A small HTPC 350W I am familiar enough with APC UPS Systems, as this is all we use at work from small BN600G's to SMT1500. This one was my first one purchased for personal use so i actually went and read through the proper use of it. Reading the manual would have probably helped setting up the SMT1500 and SUA1500 at work to get the most effective power distribution and backup. Overall I feel this is a great buy since power blips occur more often that is warranted in my apartment.

Switches well and has plenty of features
Keep in mind, I bought this with the idea that I would have a relatively small load in place and that can be a bit misleading when I say that the switch-over from home electricity to battery backup is seamless. I only have about 15% of the recommended load capacity being powered, so it wouldn't be fair to say that my switching conditions would be repeatable at 85% without testing. The picture actually makes the unit look larger than it is. I originally thought Amazon had sent me the incorrect model, but was pleasantly surprised by the compact dimensions. It's small enough that I keep it on my desktop, which is better for dust collection (prevention), and it isn't sitting somewhere out of sight where I'd be likely to cram something else and potentially block the vent louvers. The display is large and easily legible; not too bright to keep in a bedroom at night. Though if you disagree about the brightness, the display has an option to time out after brief periods of inactivity. There are many other available customization settings that are not very intuitive to access with the three buttons provided; however, all of these are easily accessed if you connect the communication cable (via USB) to your PC and load the provided CD software. Everything (and more) you can do through the front display can be accessed through the software. Certain features I bought this model for: -Battery is very common (RBC-17) -Battery is hot-swappable, so no need to power down anything -Display can be set to any parameter you want to monitor (I keep mine on "time remaining") -Small design / ample power and run-time (based on the load I had already determined) Pleasant surprises when it arrived: -It's smaller than I imagined -Does not run warm -It has an energy saving feature that integrates with sleep and hibernate functions of a PC, which would be very useful for a desktop

Reliable Performance with APC Back-UPS Pro 700VA
I recently purchased the APC Back-UPS Pro 700VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BR700G) and am thoroughly impressed by its performance. The unit arrived well-packaged, ensuring its safety during transport, and I found it incredibly user-friendly to set up and operate. Having tried various brands and even an APC model 20 years ago, I can confidently say that APC's quality consistently stands out. Their devices truly go above and beyond in terms of reliability and longevity. My oldest APC unit is still operational after 20 years, thanks to a simple battery replacement. However, one downside is the cost of original replacement batteries, which I find quite expensive. Despite this, my trust in the APC brand remains strong due to their products' enduring quality and performance.

Non è specificato che è a 120v quindi inutilizzabile in Italia
Come da titolo questo UPS è a 120 Volt quindi inutilizzabile in Italia... peccato perchè il prezzo sarebbe stato ottimo!

Easy to use
This product seems to be well designed. I was expecting something bigger size-wise, but it seems to be perfectly adequate and what I need. Would recommend.
