Bon Tool 84-841 Pencil - Red Casing Hard Black Lead - (72/Pkg)

I've been a cabinet maker for over 20 years. I've used many different brands/kinds of pencils. I prefer the Carpenter pencils because of the flat design and the durability. I put the pencil in the side of my hat near my ear. The pencil is exposed to heat, sweat, drops, vibrations, constant, sharpening (I like a sharp point), etc.. This brand held up well to the everyday abuse that I put it through. Only two pencils out of the pack had problems. One split due to sharpening it. The other had a problem with the lead being broken up. The lead was dark enough to see on many surfaces. The pencils stayed together even when wet. Even after they were wet then dry several times. If you use these kinds of pencils as many times as I do this is a big deal. Overall I would say these pencils are a smart buy. In many cases you get what you pay for. I didn't mind spending g a little more to get what I needed.

Love these red pencils to mark blocks to saw. Mark stays on instead of blowing off like black pencils marks do. However black works better on bricks. Downside, red lead very soft and hard to sharpen without breaking. Mark gently for same reason. Totally worth it for marking blocks!

Good quality basic construction pencils.

Time was when all the building supplies I bought from gave us these as appreciation for our business. These pencils don't have splitting wood, or broken leads like some of the ones from big box stores.

Lead just keeps falling out can’t sharpen with pencil sharpener

My husband has been finally able to get started on his wishful wood projects. He was so excited to pull these out of his stalking, I thought he was going to take off in the middle of unwrapping Christmas to get busy on projects! Just remember to get the pencil sharpener for them!

When I run out, I'll buy more of the same. Made in the USA, which is a major plus to me. Good quality, better than the junque Lowe's and Home Depot sell. Bon Tool makes a lot of good stuff, so I wasn't surprised.

The picture makes them look safety green but they really are yellow casing like the heading for them says. No biggie at all but just be aware. Besides that they are just like other carpenter pencils.

Nice hard wood pencils. Unique colour means ownership is obvious,,, Red end is excellent addition for different substrates or to avoid confusion if over marked

Flat pencils. Red.The "lead" does seem a little soft, which is a problem when firmly scribing a thin line, but if you're careful about that they're otherwise OK.Very handy if you're marking layouts and need alternate colours for guide-lines vs. cut-lines.

I initially thought this was a good buy, but I am now having second thoughts. This is because the graphite cores of the pencils are usually fragmented which causes them to fall out quite often. This happens so frequently that a new pencil from this pack only last 2-3 days on average. Not impressed. Recommend trying another pencil.

I paid more money for these pencils because they came in a nice box so I could keep organized in our shop. Opened the package and this is what it looks like. Not a big deal. I’m sure the pencils will work great. But it is a big deal.. Do better!

Nunca recibí este producto porque las regulaciones aduaneras mexicanas necesitan un certificado para la importación de productos derivados de madera y este no lo tenía así que fue devuelto al vendedor. Sin embargo Amazon me devolvió el importe del producto y el costo de envío pero sólo hasta que llamé para aclarar la situación, si no no hubieran hecho nada.Seria bueno que Amazon y los vendedores tengan en cuenta este tipo de regulaciones para ofrecer más información a los consumidores y mayor satisfacción.
