revised: a great belt now has a terrible smell and I can't wear it
REVISED **AGAIN**. Back to 5 stars. After seeing all of the positive reviews noting that there was no bad smell I decided to try another one of these belts as I have lost some weight and needed a smaller size. There is no smell and this is otherwise a great belt and a great bargain. I guess the smelly ones must have been a bad lot and they have fixed it. So very strong recommendation from me. REVSIED REVIEW (NOW ONLY 1 STAR, PREVIOUSLY GAVE IT 5) These belts, which were once one of my favorite items, have an absolutely horrible smell. Wearing one of them made me naseous, and my colleagues all were asking what the smell was. Terrible! ________ OLD REVIEW (BEFORE THE CHEMICAL SMELL ISSUE I GAVE THIS BELT 5 STARS) It fits (true to size), it's comfortable, it has a nice feel to it, it looks good. It works for casual or fancy. It is durable and lasts long. It is priced well. Well done!

Perfect Dress belt
The belt is great quality leather. It is soft and flexible. The belt is the perfect width to fit dress pants, but also looks great with a nice pair of jeans. I have worn it playing golf as well. The size of the belt is true, and it is a great length. I ordered my pant size +2 and I am right in the middle of the holes on the belt, so it is comfortable without a ton of slack to tuck in. The buckle is clean and modern, but very sturdy and seems very well made. This is the perfect belt.

Depends on your taste
Do not buy a size larger; buy the correct size. I bought my size and I am dead center on hole 4 out of 7 holes. Thank you everyone else that reviewed it. The reviews about this having a smell are correct, there is some kind of smell. I believe this is due to what appears to be that plastic that is put on the side of the belt. If I am not mistaken, this is one piece of leather folded in half and then bound. The plastic is only located on the bottom and tip of the belt. I guess this is what they meant by tubular belt or "Uses one piece of leather wrapped around the belt". Normally I look for that plastic to see whether it is bound leather that will split. I probably would not have bought this if I saw it before hand for this reason. The smell could also be from the dying process or leather treatment, I feel something on my fingers after touching the belt, and the smell carries over faintly. The smell is not severe or that bad; it is a light faint chemical smell. It will only bother you if you are looking for it after reading reviews. This is not like a pvc shower curtain that will stink for days 10 feet away. The smell should not be your concern at all, I only bring it up because everyone else mentions it but does not fully describe it. If you are 2 feet away you will not detect it, so when you wear it you will be fine from day 1. The buckle is sewn in so it will not come off like those screwed/glued on buckles on reversible belts. It is not as shiny as the picture shows. Mine looks more like oxidized silver, not stainless steel as the picture. Personally, I rather have the color in the picture, but this is just a few shades darker. The leather feels very soft but stiff. My guess is that this is probably because it is one piece of leather folded over. It does not feel bad at all, it feels pretty good, feels rich. It is nice and thick. It is ~1.25 inches wide so this is a 30mm belt. I wish it were 40mm. Bottom line. I like it. I am on the fence on quality because that bonded bottom worries me into thinking that maybe one day this belt may actually split. If this is the type of belt that will split then this should cost only ten dollars. If the price was cheaper by twelve dollars I would take the risk and buy two more. I believe it is overpriced at twenty seven. At its current price, I do not think it is worth buying more than one even if it is inconvenient to switch pants everyday and use the same belt. A fair price for this belt is 15-20. If it were not glued, $27 is fair.

Nice but... intense odor
I thought other reviewers were being picky about the new leather smell. In all seriousness, this belt will need to "air out" for a week before you should wear it in an office setting. Pros - Well constructed - both the best and the buckle should last much longer than cheap glued belts. - Sharp looking - a nice matte black that pairs with anything but patent leather shoes - Fits to size as a dress belt Cons - This isn't a jean belt. It's thinner (height and thickness) than I had imagined and as such is only suitable for dress pants.

Very happy, nice quality
2nd Update 12/23/12 this belt has proven to outlast the reversibles and is worn everyday for over a year - still going strong . Very nice quality and very happy still! -- updated my original post - It has a touch of class and the more i have worn it i dont miss the extra glossiness of other belts i have had.. -- 11/11/11 im done with the reversible belts. they always split, and i never really use the brown side anyway. I bought this based on the reviews - my existing belt was a 36 as marked and left about 1.5inches that came through past the buckle. Im not sure what others were speaking of, but this one in a 36 actually gave me perfect length was about 3-4 inches past the buckle when set. Solid piece of leather - not super thin. I will agree its slippery, but i always have that issue! maybe would have liked a little additional gloss, but wont trade what looks to be good quality for that.

Manufactured cheapened the product considerably. It's Junk now
Manufacturer used to make a full-grain leather belt. Not any more. They should really create a new item in Amazon instead of back-dooring a piece of garbage that benefits from the previous item's 5-star reviews. This is leather bonded to rubber, whatever the hell that means. It lasted 6 months and the wear got pretty bad. It delaminated within 12 months, something I would not tolerate at this price. This is garbage. Don't buy it. Go find yourself a good full-grain leather belt and avoid the crap. Here's my original review and an update to it. Time to look for another vendor. High quality, VERY long lasting belt (got 3 years & 2 months out of the last one!) This full grain leather belt is top quality. This belt has lasted me over 2 years of regular wear so far and still looks great. I've never had a belt last more than 6 months, so I am very impressed with this one. Will buy again. Highly recommended. Update - After 2 years of daily wear plus daily wear of a cell phone belt-clip holster, the leather started to get pretty worn in that spot - visible to close inspection but still looked OK for wearing. Wearing the belt the opposite way or switching the holster side was an acceptable frugal trick for life extension. At 3 years and 2 months of daily wear, the leather loop split from its staple inside the belt. Maybe my extra 40 pounds gets the credit for that - just being honest. Time to buy a new one, and I will gladly buy the exact same belt (OK maybe a size larger).

So good, just what Perry would have worn
Have use the belt for about three months. I am surprised at how flexible yet durable the belt seems. Looks really nice. All that I wanted it to be. Great price. Doubt it’ll last for the next 25 years, but for the price easy to replace it may be 3 to 5 years. 1 yr update I wear it about 2 to 3 times a week on average. It has been a great belt to wear, with little ware. I can only imagine that Perry is smiling down on this product right now. Would recommend, would buy again. Photos are from the update

Tubular dude!
Ok, I must admit that I am not a fashion expert, and when I was looking for a new belt after my old ones were falling apart, I was mainly just looking for "leather", and not some sort of "leather construction". So, when I found this belt on Amazon, I was like, "Tubular? What does that mean?" Well, at least it says 100% of some kind of leather sounding name, like "full cowhide top" whatever that is. I kind of ignored the tubular adjective and just looked at the reviews, the price and the specs, and just crossed my fingers that this would be a belt that I could use for a few years. I wish I had a list of accurate marketing terms detailing when something is leather through and through, rather than leather with some leather-like outer lining. I had one belt ages ago that worked really well for a long long time, which I had thought was "genuine leather." Then I hit a stretch of really crappy belts, each had some sort of leather construction issue, whether it be the buckle would fall off b/c the interface to the strap wore down easily, or the outer layer stitching would fall out, or the outer layer would just start flaking off, especially around the holes. I kept looking for something more like "how they used to make them." So, what of this belt? Well, the first thing you will notice is that it has an extremely pungent smell, that rubs off on your clothes. I have had this belt for almost two months now, wearing it every day and it is finally to the point where I am not pinching my nose. The first few weeks I actually would try to make sure I didn't get too close to other people if I needed to talk to them b/c I didn't want them wondering what that odd smell was. The stink does seem to wash off of my clothes, so at least that is good. I would describe the smell as kind of like a burnt rubbery smell. I've never had a belt smell like this. In terms of reliability, I will have to make an update on this review a year from now to see how things are going, but so far it seems to be of solid construction. I always use the same tightness, and so the hole where the buckle inserts into is starting to show some fraying on the inside as well as a little bit of stretching (the hole is slightly more elongated than the other holes) And finally, the "tubular". I don't think it's totally tubular in the surfing sense of the word, but I finally know what it actually means. The belt does not have hard top and bottom edges along the length of the strap. Instead it is rounded. This is nice because it slips into my pant belt loops quite smoothly, although I wear a lot of jeans and am not sure that I really benefit from this feature so much. One odd side effect, however, is that I find that when I hang up my pants on a hook (say, in a gym), the smoothness of the belt actually makes it very difficult for the pants to stay on the hook! As silly as that sounds, it is actually something I run into every day. Those few seconds do add up every day and can be frustrating if you let that sort of thing get to you. But I would imagine this to be a function of the "tubularity" rather than the quality of this particular brand of belt. All in all, a decent belt.

Nice belt, but the product description is inaccurate
The product description says the belt is "100% leather", but the belt itself says it is "Faux Leather", which is not genuine leather at all. The belt looks well made, but as it is made from a synthetic material, I don't know how long it will last. Therefore, I have decided to return it.

Faux leather belt. It is hard to cancel and return. No value for money. Quality is not good. Bad. It is Faux. And return is very difficult as well. Be careful in ordering
