Just plain awesome.....
The short version of this review is that I am 100%, absolutely pleased with these headphones and would buy them again. The long - What do I like? Sound - Pristine reproduction, almost completely uncolored. Pure, clean bass and excellent sound imaging. Instrument / performer location is nearly transparent with these, creating a wide soundstage. A great test album for these 'phones is the Bill Evans Trio album "Exporations". "Nardis", "Israel" and "Elsa" feature some very low acoustic bass from Scott LaFaro and very delicate brush work on the drums. These are the first headphones that I have heard that reproduce this so well. Classical music sounds excellent as well - John Eliot Gardiner's recording of Beethoven's Symphonies on period instruments is ridiculous on these. It sounds so good! Modern rock is also handled with ease - uncolored and clear. Perfect bass response, and when you want a boost in the bass, the DT990s handle the extra kick easily. I used the EQ on my headphone amp to boost the bass as a test, and found no problems or muddiness. IMHO, these phone do not need the bass boosted - they sound great with no EQ. Comfort - The most comfortable headphones I have worn. I don't think there is any problem here for anyone. Construction - Okay, these are only a few weeks old. I cannot attest to the long-term durability. I can say that they appear ot built very well. The cord is heavy and appears to be durable. The constuction is solid, yet lightweight. I think it'll do just fine over time. Comparison - I do NOT own 43 different pairs of expensive headphones. (As it seems many reviewers claim to own!) I have one other pair of "real" headphones; Grado mid-priced (~$100) headphones that sound great as well. The DT 990 kills them, leaves them in the dust so to speak - as they should for the price difference! (But I still love the Grados!) What I was able to do a few months ago was visit this absurd electrincs shop in Tokyo (Akihabara) and audition a ton of 'phones with my own MP3 files. The DT 900s were among them. The only headphones that I thought were this good were the Sennheiser's with "wood-trim" and the DT 880. (Sorry, I forgot the model number of the Sennheiser) I cannot give you a run-down of this model compared to that model ad infinitum. The DT 990s sounded better (to me) than many 'phones costing quite a bit more - some AKGs (I think the Quincy Jones model) and Audio Technica were hundreds more expensive and IMHO were inferior to these. I can tell you that I love the sound of these and do not regret buying them. I am not going to comment on noise isolation. These are open type 'phones, as anyone intelligent enough to read has already discovered in the product description. If you are reading this and don't know what that means, do an internet search on that term. Plus that, they are GERMAN made and engineered! (If you don't know it by now, literally every product made in Germany is superior to similar products made elsewhere with one exception - dental floss.) This product again reinforces my admiration for German engineering. Simply awesome product! I hope that this review helps you to decide what to buy. I had a very difficult time deciding, and had the good fortune of being able to visit Tokyo prior to buying. I was able to audition dozens of headphones in a store there, Akihabara. I don't think that you will find that here in the US. (If there was a store like that here, all of the audition headphones would either be broken or stolen, sadly.) Update - December 30, 2012 - Fantastic 'phones!!!! I am fully aware that nearly all headphones exhibit some type of "break-in" where the audio qualities may change slightly after some hours of use. I can only say that the Beyerdynamics sound better to me than they did a month ago. Hard to qualify that, really... I think that they sound more "open" and transparent. Excellent 'phones, no change in my opinion from earlier. Just a very fine audio product and the best headphones I have heard. Easily in the category of "Would buy again." Update - January 2014 - Better than ever - cannot knock these at all. Worth the money, sound great, look and feel as good as the day they were new. Sound better than new. Very happy with these after living with them a bit now... I recently bought the much cheaper Bro' of these Beyerdynamic DTX 910 Stereo Headphones for Portable and Home usage (Silver Black) for use away from home, and am very pleased with those for $70.

Outstanding!!!!
I have read plenty of reviews on many different brands of headphones. Thanks to a few gift cards I was able to shop for some quality headphones. I narrowed it down to either the Sennheiser hd 598's or the 32 ohm Beyerdynamic 990 dt's. I heard both are great but I settled on the beyer's. It's been over a month and in total I have burned in my new phones about 70 hours using my ipod playing overnight and the static from unclear radio stations. I listen to them about 2 hrs a day, everyday. To sum them up in one word...PHENOMENAL!! I love these things. For a while I wasn't listening to my music anymore. Don't know why. I own about 300 CDs. I listen to almost everything but prefer metal(too many genres in this department to list), along with hardcore, punk, ska, rock, rap,r&b,reggae, and speedcore. The 990's make me want to listen to all of my CDs all over again as if I was hearing them for the 1st time! I have heard my CDs a thousand times over and with the 990's I can hear things I have never heard before!! Absolutely ridiculous!! I have adjusted to the digital age and crammed all my CDs into my iPod Classic . I use the EQ a bit on it to see how the different genres sound. When I want a little more bass I'll use the R&b or hip hop setting. This setting sounds great with most of my music. Although on some of the grind core I listen to, I have to tone down the bass a bit cause it sounds distorted. With the classical EQ setting, it makes the grind sound tame but in a really great way. The bass is crystal clear!! It's mind blowing! The speedcore is even tamed as well on this setting! If that is possible because that type of music usually destoys any kind of speaker due to it's rumbling bass, ear piercing pitches and digital drums/drum machine. The 990's excel with that genre and by no means are these phones bass emphasized. But when put to the test with extreme music, they can handle the chaos! And with the right eq setting, any genre of music is enhanced. They can definitely handle a lot more power than my iPod. The 32 ohm version was made to cater to portable devices. That being said, I have to turn up the volume to about 85% on the iPod to get it where I want it. Almost blasting my ears out but not quite. I am curious to see how a good amp/dac combo would enhance the experience. The 990's have a 250 and 600 ohm version as well. I would assume those 2 sets would surely benefit amped up. A few more notes on the 990's. They are incredibly comfortable and can be worn for hours. They are sturdy as well. Another thing I noticed when listening is the treble sounds incredibly high even with the EQ adjustments. Almost ear piercing high. I've heard the term bright used by other reviewers when describing the treble. And the bass, I just want more. Like i said, they can handle whatever is thrown at them. I'm already spoiled with these, hehe. I recommend the 990's to anyone who loves music and wants it to come alive! I know they are expensive. I couldn't have got em without a little help, ie gift cards and those horrible credit cards!! With this economy and now obamacare! Who can pay things off anymore??!!Debt is great ain't it!! All in all if you love music, get these. Also looking into getting the Phillips Fidelio X1 or X2. Not sure but need to do more research and start saving up. Hope this helps! UPDATE: Had these for a year and they are goin strong!! Still sound just as good or better then when I got em! BTW, I did get a $50 Samson headphone amp. After combining the Beyer's with the amp, I didn't notice much of a difference. They did not improve the sound quality, the only thing that changed was the volume. The phones sounded louder but that was it. The bass, mids, and highs were not clearer or sounded any different. Perhaps one of the various Fiio amps or a tube amp would help? Need to do more research to find the right combo. Maybe I'm just nitpicking or being too critical. Don't know enough about headphones and amps and prob never will. But I do know I love the Beyer's. Either way, just get these headphones. Their awesome!!Take it easy:)

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium (32 ohm) compared to Grado SR-80i, and Audio-Technica ATH-M50)
I bought the Beyerdynamic DT 990's (32ohm) as a potential upgrade to my current headphones. I own the Grado SR80i's as well as the Audio Technica ATH-M50's. I've been comparing the DT990's on portable devices, iphone, itouch and an Asus Memopad tablet. The DT 990's are by far the least sensitive of the three headphones - I have to turn the volume up more to achieve equivalent volume. I've been doing my best to adjust the volume as I listen to each to make the comparison as fair as possible. The output is loud enough without the need for a headphone amp. The ATH-M50's are the most sensitive, followed by the SR80's. All three of these headphones are excellent and I could recommend all of them without hesitation. The SR80i's and the DT 990's are the most similar (open back) and I spent most of my time comparing these two. The ATH-M50's are closed back and have a different sound. I prefer the open back sound in general, but sometimes like the isolation provided by the closed back cans. The DT990's are extremely comfortable and out of the box sound great. They're well balanced and spacious. The high end compared with the SR-80i's have slightly more high-end sizzle. The middle is extremely pleasant and vocals, both male and female are fantastic. The bass is present, but less pronounced than either the Grado's or Audio-Technicas. I will update this review over time if the bass opens up with continued use. The difference between the SR80i's and the DT 990's are subtle and I'm not sure whether the slight improvement in the high-end makes them worth keeping. Keep in mind the DT 990's cost ~ $260.00, while the SR-80's cost ~ $99.00. In my opinion the Grados are by far the better value. I will spend a lot more time listening to DT990's before making a final judgment, but after a couple of days I'm certainly pleasantly surprised by how well the Grados compare. It's possible the DT 990's might benefit from a headphone amp, but I specifically bought the 32 ohm version in order to avoid having to use an amp. In summary (for now) the DT-990's are excellent headphones with a great sound stage and extremely comfortable. They are marginally brighter than the Grado's, but the difference is subtle. The Grados have a slight edge on the bass response at least out of the box. If money is no object the DT 990's would probably be the pick, but if I factor in value the Grado's might just win out. The Audio-Technicas are also fantastic in their own way. They have a more traditional headphone sound and provide a bit more sound isolation. If that's your preference they're also a great value.

Impressive sound and a comparison to Sennheiser/Grado ect.(updted)
I own and have owned a few audiophile headphones, one thing I learned is that as with speakers, there are no two headphones that sound alike. It mostly comes down to preference. I currently own Grado SR 225i, Sennheiser HD598, HD-595, Bose QuietComfort 15, AKG 701 (Sold due to terrible comfort issues). All of these are great sounding headphones but each excel in different ways and with different types of music or use. These DT 990 are quickly becoming my favorite for general music listening specially for Jazz, Chill and New Age; wonderfully dynamic and open. I am shocked at how impact-full the bass can be something I didn't expect from open back phones yet highs that are natural sweet and can sparkle. Mids are slightly recessed but not in a bad way yet voices in particular female can be quite intimate. The 32 ohm version will play well through an iPhone but these still benefit from a good amp. I am sure they will improve in the high end with use. The Grado's are my go to for precision and detail. The Sennheiser's are flatter and well suited for movies and music overall very natural as well as more comfortable as the cups are oval and fit around the ear better but the DT-990 feel slightly lighter. The HD-595's are the least spacious sounding of these and better overall for just watching TV shows as the mids are up front and detailed. Initial impression with wearing these concerned me a bit as they seemed a bit tight around the ears but have quickly broken in and are getting more comfortable. These are easily the most spacious sounding headphones I have used to date and have more air around instruments than the HD-598s which are quite 3d on their own. Beyerdynamic has a real winner here that can easily compete with the best that other manufacturers have to offer. I have noticed that in reviews for this and other open back headphones there is a lot of criticism about the sound leakage. Complaining about sound leakage from open back phones makes as much sense as complaining that a Corvette sits too low to the ground. Open back phones leak sound by design as this is what tend to give these phones that open sound stage closed back and ear buds lack. Buy these for home use. I have a set of Bose Quiet Comfort 15's that excel in private sound isolating portable use where audiophile grade sound is not a priority. If portable isolating sound is what you want, there are many other good options for that but these are not suited for that type of use. You won't regret investing in a set of these guaranteed. Update: ( I felt the need to edit this entry to add that these cans require a long break in period. They sounded very good out of the box but have improved with hours of use. The high end sparkle is still there but more relaxed. These stack up impressively well with more expensive headphones. I have since purchasing these, sold or replaced a couple of headphones on this list adding the Grado SR325e, HiFiman 400s and probably the last of my expensive collection, the venerable Sennheiser HD700 and yet, I gladly keep coming back to these. With the long break in, the sound stage has grown to one of the most expansive of the above list short of the HD700's. I also want to emphasize how much higher end headphones benefit from high quality DAC's and proper amplification. The difference is stark and also spoils your ability to use these types of cans without. These manufacturers claim these will be driven with portable devices to promote sales, and they will but If you spend this kind of money for good headphones, do yourself a favor and get a proper DAC and amp. You will get all the wonderful experience you read about in reviews and you won't look back.)

Amazing Headphones
I have long been a music purist who prefers a quite flat EQ in headphones which allow me to experience the music the way it was mastered. I am a frequent traveler and have not invested in a good pair of over ear headphones in a long time. I am a huge fan of Shure 530 series earbuds which are fairly neutral and work well with lower powered devices such as an Iphone or Ipad when I travel. As a music purist I prefer FLAC files for travel as they are an exact replica of the music you hear from a CD. When you have good speakers or high quality earbuds you can certainly tell the difference between complete digital recordings and MP3's. When selecting a good over ear headphone I had a tough time deciding which OHM tier to focus on. I have a home computer with a top end soundcard capable of powering a 600 or 250 OHM headset. On the other hand perhaps I don't want to sit next to my computer or my home theater setup to power these bad boys. I opted for the 32 OHM version somewhat reluctantly believing that I would be somewhat disappointed. While I have not compared this exact head set to it's 250 and 600 OHM version's, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the DT990's. They are perhaps the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn and I can easily wear them for 2-3 hour's without any fatigue or soreness. The headsets elasticity/rigidity as it wraps around your head is fantastic! I never feel any sense of tightness on the top or sides of my head and also never feel any impact of the weight. Another feature in high and headphones is dual lines which split to each can to ensure absolute accuracy of sound delivery/arrival. I have not found this to be a concern and find the sound reproduction to be fantastic. These headphones like most high and headphones really have a sweet spot in the mid's and highs. They are not over weighted on the low end and at times leave me feeling I have missed some of the bass reproduction. The reality is that most mass market headphones, such as beats by Dre over emphasize the low end to appeal to a particular consumer. Unfortunately this overemphasis on the low end drowns out the true sound reproduction of most other headphones, not so with the Beyerdynamic DT990's, these bad boys are crystal clear. I'm certain that stepping up to the Beyerdynamic Tesla series would lend itself to some similar improvements, however for the price you cannot go wrong with the DT990's. While they regularly sell for $350 here on Amazon, if you watch the pricing it can change daily and I was able to pick up a set for $305 shipped! Part of the reason I was so interested in picking up a great set of over hear headphones is to really immerse myself in music the way I used to before MP3's and the digital-ADD era. With Facebook, email push, text messaging and a number of other notifications we all experience in this digital world it's nice to escape into an album and really listen to it beginning to end. With the Beyerdynamic 990's re-experiencing music has been a pleasure and I would certainly encourage anyone to welcome them into your home.

There are better options at this price point
I recently needed to replace my pair of over the ear headphones so I began my search for a good pair of headphones in the $150-$200 range. Immediately Senhiser, Beyerdynamic, and Audio‑Technica stood out. I first received a pair of the Audio‑Technica ATH M-50x which had good sound but were very uncomfortable if worn for more than an hour or so. Then I picked up a pair of the Beyerdynamic DT 770. These headphones had amazing sound quality and comfort but the passive sound isolation was mediocre at best. Which is why I ordered a pair of the Beyerdynamic Premium 990 which are open back. I figured that the sound quality and comfort would be similar but the open back quality would allow me to talk with others while I played music. Unfortunately the 990's had worse sound quality than the 770 (a bit harsher sounding and not as clear) and were very uncomfortable even after only a couple of hours. During this time I also ordered a pair of Senhiser HD 599 headphones. While these headphones have a significantly different sound signature than the others I have tried, they were of similar quality. Overall the HD 599's were slightly less comfortable than the 770's but the open back quality was convenient and the sound was quite nice. I would have been satisfied with the HD 599's but they were the only pair of headphones I could not drive with my desktop. They produced terrible static. This did not occur when I used the 599's on other devices or when I used other headphones (even those with similar impedance and SPL) driven by my desktop computer. This prevented me from keeping them. I have attached a breakdown of my thoughts below: ------------Sound Quality------------ Beyerdynamic DT 770 (80 Ohm) - Winner Highs - Quite good representation, much cleaner than Senhiser Mids - Quite good representation Lows - A little closed sounding but overall they are handled well Overall this is how the music should sound. They perform the most similar to my pair of Martin Logan Motion 15's (bookshelf speakers) Beyerdynamic Premium 990 (32 Ohm) Highs - Similar to the 770's but rather harsh sounding Mids - Nothing special, no major issues Lows - Not as powerful as the 770's but more spacious. Seemed a bit washed out due to the open back design Senhiser HD 599 (50 Ohm) - Close 2nd Best Highs - Not quite as poppy as they should be. They are a bit muted in the sound signature which can make them less fatiguing than other, more analytical, headphones. Mids - A bit to high level for me, it tended to make punk rock music sound very close and muddied Lows - A bit boomy but very spacious Audio Technica ATH M-50x Highs - Quite good representation, a bit cold though Mids - Nothing special, no major issues though Lows - Too over-emphasized -----------------Comfort--------------- Beyerdynamic DT 770 - Winner Perfect. I wore these on multiple occasions for more than 7 hours and never noticed any pressure points or discomfort. The headband is larger than average to distribute the pressure. The clamp pressure is also a bit more than average but this was not an issue due to the soft, replaceable, ear pads. Beyerdynamic Premium 990 I could not wear these for more than a few hours. The headband is made of a much harder material than the 770's and causes a painful pressure point on the top of my head. I believe this is made worse by the lower clamping force since more of the weight is on the top of your head. Senhiser HD 599 I could wear these for several hours as long as I moved them around every 30-40 minutes. More comfortable than the 990's. Significantly less clamping force than the 770's. Audio Technica ATH M-50x These were the least comfortable. I could only stand to wear them for an hour or so before I had to take them off. All of the discomfort came from the top of my head. ----------------Usability--------------- Beyerdynamic DT 770 These come with a permanently attached 10ft cable. That was a lot of cable to get in my pocket every time I got up from my desk. The cable also has more insulation making it much thicker and stiffer than average. Beyerdynamic DT 990 These come with a permanently attached 10ft cable. That was a lot of cable to get in my pocket every time I got up from my desk. The cable also has more insulation making it much thicker and stiffer than average. The open back design was also a plus for me since I work in a semi-quiet office environment and I could still hold a conversation with someone while listening to music. But I could not hear others quite as well as I could with the HD 599's. Senhiser HD 599 The interchange-able cables with different lengths worked perfect for home listening as well as on the go. The cable is also thinner and more flexible than the Beyerdynamic cable. The open back design was also a plus for me since I work in a semi-quiet office environment and I could still hold a conversation with someone while listening to music. The only downfall is the issue I had with compatibility between some devices and this pair of headphones where I would hear static or computer noise when driving them with a computer. Audio Technica ATH M-50x I really love the long coiled cable that came with these. To me this is the best option since I dont have to lug around a long cable or risk losing extra cables. With that being said, it also came with a ~ 9ft straight cable and 3ft straight cable if the coiled cable is too much for you.

Absolutely wonderful pair of headphones. Would recommend for anyone looking for a great sound experience, for gaming and music.
[Edit - One month after purchase: Buy these. You won't regret it.] I purchased the 32 ohm version of these headphones for $170 as I bought them Open Box (Perfect Condition) from a different seller on Amazon. I attached images for this review because it is very truly in perfect condition and I'm very happy with my purchase. The box was very clearly used and beat up, but the headphones themselves were very nice and the only signs of previous use were fingerprints on the metal parts of them which were easily removed. Sound Quality: I'm no expert on audio but I do prefer to have the best audio I can for a decent price, and these just about fit the bill. They are open-back headphones and the soundstage is amazing. These are my first ever pair of open-back headphones and I am blown away by how awesome they sound. The bass is perfect but not overpowering. The mids are fine, they aren't nearly as recessed as some people claim. The highs can be a bit tinny and painful but I think that's just from being so used to bassy headphones before these. After a day or two of use I've gotten adjusted to the sound of the highs and the clarity is really nice. If it bothers you too much you can always download an EQ program to soften them a bit. [Edit - One month after purchase: The highs have softened by a ton and are really pleasant. I'm not sure if it's due to break-in or just me getting used to them, but they are astounding sounding headphones. Best purchase I made this year, without a doubt. Great for gaming, watching movies/shows, and listening to music. Fantastic!] Build: Absolutely phenomenal! These are extremely light at 290 grams and the metal parts are sturdy. My only complaint with the build is that the adjustable parts of the headband are a bit wobbly and tend to "snap" into place randomly if you didn't adjust it perfectly. It's a minor issue that really doesn't take away from the experience, it's just a bit of a scare every once in a while if you forget they do that sometimes. Definitely not worried about them breaking at all, I think it's just a compromise from having more adjustability in the ear cups. The grills are metal and tend to attract fingerprints, as well as the tabs on the headband. The supports connecting it to the headband are also metal but have a more matte finish that doesn't seem to attract prints at all. The other parts are plastic with the headband being covered in an interesting layer of leather/foam material. [Edit - One month after purchase: No problems with build at all, still. The cable seems to coil up on its own which is a bit of a pain, but really the least of my concerns.] Comfort: Pretty darn good. I'm used to having gaming headsets that are designed for hours and hours of use, and at this rate, I don't think any earcups will be as comfortable as the ones on Razer headphones. I don't know how they make those so insanely soft and plush, but they will forever be my favorite. The DT990 ear pads have an extremely soft velour covering over an angled plush material that contours your head better than typical earcups. They aren't as plush as my old Razer headsets, but they don't really need to be because these headphones are so light. The ear cups are absolutely massive and I can't imagine anyone having trouble fitting their ears in these, even people with bigger heads. I have a medium/small head and small ears and these adjust to even smaller sizes than I need, but I'm not sure that people with absolutely massive heads will get quite the size they need. I added a photo of them fully extended, if that may help. The headband is soft but still firm, but they are so light that doesn't really matter. The clamping force is okay, they don't feel like they'll fall off my head easily but I do wish it was just a *tiny* bit looser. It's not unbearable at all though, and it seems like I just need to get used to it. The open back nature also adds to comfort, somehow. It doesn't feel like the sound is coming from anywhere, it's just there near your ears, instead of traditional closed-back headphones which feel like the sound is actually being projected from a source into your ears. For these, the sound just... happens. It's really lovely. Very easy to forget you're even wearing headphones. [Edit - One month after purchase: The clamping is no longer an issue. I can wear these all day with no headaches. Either got used to them or they loosened up a bit with use. Either way, they're wonderful. I tried replacing the ear cups with leather ones, but they made the sound signature less unique and the openness of the headphones was compromised more than I'd like. After going back to the originals, I'd have them no other way. Brainwavz XL Large Sheepskin Leather Replacement Memory Foam Earpads - Suitable For Many Other Large Over The Ear Headphones - Sennheiser, AKG, HifiMan, ATH, Philips, Fostex, Sony (Sheepskin Leather) ] Accessories: These came with a carrying case/bag that is leather and zips closed that is packed with nice foam. Not much extra room in there and I feel like it could have been downsized and contoured more, instead of being a huge rectangular shape. Also came with a screw-on adapter for amps, but I don't use it because I don't have an amp (or need it for the 32 ohm version). The cable is attached, which I would prefer it be detachable. It is very long and should have no issues reaching any of your systems, but it is definitely no good for mobile use unless you have a way to store a ton of cables wherever. Additional Notes: I bought these primarily for gaming and exclusive desktop use (so mostly gaming, music, watching videos, shows, etc. Basically everything you'd use headphones for) and so far they have been excellent for everything I have used them for. I may need to find a way to amp up the volume a bit, because currently everything is maxed on my computer to get the desired loudness, but for most situations it has more than enough volume. Just a few games lack in the super loud end, but it's really not a big deal. I think it's because I have an older motherboard, so newer computers or people with amps absolutely shouldn't have any issues with volume. Also, the open-back sound leakage is NOT BAD! I was so worried these would leak too much sound for other people, but I can barely even hear it leaking out at max volume. It definitely does leak but if you're in a room by yourself blasting music, I doubt anyone walking past your room with an open door would even hear a thing. You could probably listen in the same room as someone else and not have an issue either, just keep the volume lower. Sound quality: 9.5/10 Build quality: 8.5/10 Comfort: 9/10 Accessories: 6/10 Overall, I'm very happy with these headphones. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for an audio upgrade in the mid-high tier. [Edit - One month after purchase: Buy these. You won't regret it. Seriously. If you're looking for a more flat response, the DT880s may be a better choice, but these are extremely good at what they do and frankly I would choose these again, recommend them to everyone I know, and give them as gifts. Even for $200, these are great. Total bargain.]

Expensive, but...
Expensive but worth it. Comfortable with amazing sound quality. I'm not making music or doing anything crazy with them, I just use them for gaming and waiting videos but I have noticed an improvement over my last pair. Taking away a star because the price does seem a bit steep, but what do I know.

Sumptuous Luxury at a Budget price
Well. WOW. These Beyers are the absolute dogs....... I have owned many more expensive headphones from Sennheiser,Sony etc which are just not in the same league as far as I am concerned and having owned previously some DT770 which broke but I loved I thought I would get another pair from them and I am absolutely delighted I did. The open back gives a feeling of having your speakers right on your ears. I couldn't remember the 770s giving this amount of detail. These have just the correct amount of bass, treble and midrange whatever music you throw at them and they are by far the comfiest headphones I have ever owned or tried. Well worth the £134 I paid (I went for the edition version as all reviews I read said they were the comfiest for home use whereas the pro version was better for studios) and the 32ohm version so I could use them comfortably with my portable devices, although they are just as good with my main hi fi equipment. Honestly, they are a fantastic bit of kit and rightly deserved of all the great reviews of them. Buy, you will not be disappointed !!!
