Excellent potential if your system is equipped to use them
This is an excellent component set for the money. They will sing or scream, hardware is complete, attractive, and of good quality. Adjustable crossover should allow reasonably flat installation in most vehicles. - Extremely high output capability. Crossover has a selectable -6db toggle for the tweeter, a setting that is needed if your install places the tweeters close to your noggin (pillar, high in the doors, etc.). Woofer is very solid, and being rated at 2ohms is optimized to take advantage of aftermarket amps. Properly enclosed this woofer has good potential for midbass output. Overall the system has the capability to blow your ears out if you drive them correctly, combined with the ability to offer very nice sound quality if you set them up properly. Despite being a soft dome, the tweeters will really sing (or scream). Should please a wide range of users. I'm driving them with a quality 75 wpc RMS amp and there is absolutely no need for more volume output, midbass output is quite strong. In a solid enclosure these could work for full range duty (no subs). - Tweeters come with a ton of mounting hardware to cover all mounting approaches and angled mounting. Only minus is the factory wiring used to the leads on the tweeters is thin, care needs to be taken during install or you could find yourself resoldering them. Perfectionists may want to attach thicker wiring. - Woofers also come with thorough adapter rings to support most installation conditions, and attractive grilles if you need them. Overall the hardware provided is what you would expect of a premium component kit, lots of hardware to cover all common installs, and everything that is exposed looks very nice. This is a relatively large voice coil woofer that will produce a lot of bass output for its size easily allowing for a 80hz or lower crossover point, even 40-50 should be OK if your doors can take it. For most cars you are going to want to consider adding dynamat or similar solutions to help bolster / de-rattle your door unless you are crossing them high enough to keep the bass out. - Crossovers appear to be of good quality and the provided enclosures are nice looking for a "show" type install. All in all this is an excellent component set for the money. I cannot imagine anyone accustomed to JBL loudspeakers would be disappointed, and barring a competition level system, I don't know what else you could really ask for. Really the thin tweeter leads are about the only neg I can think of, and it is easily resolved.

Great OEM replacent
Love these in my 2005 Ranger! Fit right in. I added foam around the inside diameter, since these don't have any. Punchier bass than stock, and go much lower frequency-wise. The doors can barely hold up to these speakers. Sound deadening improved the sound a whole bunch.

Beautiful Beasts
These speakers are beasts: 1 1/2" voice coils, pole piece vent hole, voice coil vents above the motor, direct connects, huge magnet.... paired with a cone so lightweight its see-though!! yet so strong, it does not even bend when i push my finger up from the underside. All this equals awesome sound quality that is loud as piss, surprisingly effortless bass with zero distortion, that you will observe before you even hook them up. Everything about them looks great, especially with the Knu Koncepts Twisted Karma SS 16 gauge speaker wire poking out of my door and pouring into the passive crossover. Please remember my P660 speakers are amplified by a Sundown Sax 100.4D full range 4 channel amplifier. If you are going to pay this much money for nice speakers like these, you need to hook them up to a good quality 4 channel amp also, or else you are wasting money and are not getting to the full potential of these speakers. These speakers have a 2 ohm impedance, so 99% OF HEAD UNITS WILL NOT WORK WITH THESE SPEAKERS, because the internal amplifiers in head units are only 4 ohm stable. My only complaint is that when i was messing with the tweeters, trying to mount them into my doors, the wires broke off (+ and -) both tweeters, and i had to solder them back on. Conveniently, the same thing happened to my JBL P693 6X9" speakers i bought. They also have direct connects, and right where the wires meet to the speaker, the insulation had fatigued, and the speakers didn't work right.

Excellent high-end speakers
I installed these in my 2007 Subaru Forester, which originally did not have tweeters, which went in the door sails. I figured that if I screwed up, replacing the sails would only cost around $20. Putting tweeters high in the door pillars or low in the doors would result in less than perfect stereo imaging. I used a 1.5 inch hole saw to cut a hole in the sails, then used Gorilla epoxy glue to secure them in place. Although the tweeters come with all sorts of mounting hardware, I couldn't use any of it because it was a tight squeeze already. The woofers went into the stock location with the help of an adapter. If you are going to spend the $$$ on these speakers, use some type of sound deadening product on the doors. Make sure you add a layer on the inside of the outer door skin (to stop interior reverberation) as well as on the inside of the inner door skin (see my pictures with this review). I highly recommend Noico sound deadener, which you can buy here on Amazon (see my review). It's about $60 for enough to do your entire car. The crossovers are huge. I used some Gorilla duct take to hold them onto the door. There are very few mounting options for the crossovers, so you need to get creative. After installation, I set my high-pass crossover in my head unit to 100hz. I also have an underseat Kenwood subwoofer to provide bass. Overall, these speakers sound amazing. They are very efficient. I only have a modest 14 watts RMS powering them, which is enough. Whoever said you need a 2-0hm capable amp to run these doesn't know what he is talking about.

review on the woofers only, poor manufacturing, great sound
I purchased these to repair blown speakers in a toyota with the factory JBL system. JBL factory uses 7" woofer crossed out around 800hz, a mid from 800- to ~3.5khz, and a tiny sail-panel tweet above 3.5khz. I cut a 3/4" deep "ring" to fit inside the original mount, epoxied it in, and installed these 6.5" woofers (midbass...) in the factory location. I have no need to use the included tweets or x-overs, as the factory system is bi-amped for the front (one channel lows, one channel mids+highs). The factory system, please understand, was not shabby until the speakers started to tear. RTA showed the lows rolling in around 80hz and could extend below 60 with a little EQ, and the curve was easily +/- 3db all the way to 15khz with an annoying bump at 16. (aftermarket HU but stock oem amp). After the woofers tore, however, the sound obviously degraded. These installed nicely. the sound is much cleaner, obviously. they have much more LF kick than stockers, and the mids are so devoid of distortion that it's quite pleasant. The woofs may not be quite as sensitive as the stock 2ohm units were, but they are very close. They also throw more bass than a car door can appropriately manage without lots of custom deadening, hardening and sealing. The only bad, and it makes me wary of ordering car speakers via amazon due to their return policy on these, right out of the box, one of the woofers didn't work. The fancy wire dongle with screw terminals was the problem, where the (+) wire solder connection was not in tact and the wire was flopping loose. It's a sealed case, couldn't repair, so I snipped it and soldered it direct. I also noticed that the two flex leads from the terminal pad of the speaker to the voice coil---- one was installed with almost no slack in it, which will probably lead to premature failure of this driver if it's ever asked to deliver lots of deep bass for extended periods. That's not really how I listen so I'll take the risk. This is *not* the same quality one sees with the professional JBL gear. I think the design is probably quite good, and the materials seem above par, but the assembly was obviously careless.

Couldn't have asked for better.
So I just recently purchased an used Altima Coupe that come with a full Non-Navigation Bose system. Tired of the weak sound and lack of connectivity I decided to replace the unit only to find out that in order to do so I would have to replace everything on the car at once due to Bose proprietary components... So I bought an Pioneer DEH-80PRS stereo, this set for the front, some JBL P908 for back fill, an JBL GTO-804EZ amp to power them and a JBL MS-BassPro SQ powered sub for lows. At first I had some other higher end set from JBL as well in mind but due to budget limitations I had to go with these... but man am I happy with my choice. Saved money and still got some awesome sounding speakers. They are clear as it can be. They are loud due to the amp giving them enough power clearly, and they play all my music like a pro. (From classical, to metal, to rap, to acoustic, foreign Brazilian music and beyond). Would recommend this set to anyone looking for something that will sound amazing and not break the bank. I worked for about four years in the Live Sound business and played for years in a band that traveled all over: Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. And I really can't find anything to say bad about these babies. If I do at some point I will make sure to update this review but for now they are pumping sound on a daily basis on my 30 minutes commutes to work and school without a single hitch.

Still the best bang for your buck
I remember buying my first set of power series components back in 2003 and was blown away by the sound. Well I purchased these for a new project and am still amazed like I was back on day one back in 2003. Extremely accurate sound reproduction. Loads of midbass, voices are crystal clear. The only thing some people might not like although I love it is that the tweeters are VERY bright. I recommend firing them away from you and using the 6db cut they build into the crossover. You will still have more than enough highs. Couple this with a good quality amp that gives true 100 watts RMS per channel and your golden. I recommend the gto-804ez its a great price and still jbl so the quality is there thats what I used and it was perfect. If your willing to spend some money the jbl ms1004 is right on the dime with the power and will be a bit louder, I think it's unnecessary. I also couldnt believe the price for these has come down so much over the years.

Wow, I never want to get out of my car!
I bought these to replace my 4 runner front door speakers. Teaming up with a powerhouse the Kicker 650.4 4 channel/120 rms amp, it is really mind blowing sound. I listen to all genres of music like rock, reggae, country, pop(Dave Matthews Band, Train, Matchbox 20) and all of them sound great. I really appreciate more tight accurate bass response in the mid-range with the voices and drums in music. The construction of these speakers is solid and the honeycomb material is strong and very distortion resistant. I still have yet to make these speakers distort, they will make your ears hurt before distorting. Make sure you partner them with the right amp! Their heavy duty construction needs power to move the heavy duty cones. The crossovers are pretty neat to look at too, I have them drilled onto the bottom of the door panel. They have a -3db Treble trim button you can trim for different genres or if the highs are too sharp. I didn't hear a problem with them trimmed or regular. It just really depends on the quality of your recordings you're listening to. You won't be disappointed with these.
