Shock Doctor 851 Ultra Wrap Laced Ankle Brace

I bought several different ankle braces online and at retail stores over the last few months in my quest to find a brace that was as good as taping my ankle up, which, if you are doing it yourself, is a slow tedious task, but offers you superior roll-over protection if applied correctly.I returned every brace except this one. All the others I tried offered almost no roll over resistance ... and I found that true no matter how hard I cranked on the laces. My foot would go numb ... but I could still roll it!The ultra wrap saved me 25 minutes of taping a day. It is a highly stable, comfortable support that has key features none of the others do. The double, velcro fastened, over-wraps are what provide the stability to the lace up structure below. I can wear it for three sets of tennis with no problem and the over-wraps are adjustable mid-game if need be ...without the need to remove your shoe.Is it as good as taping your ankle? No. ... but it's pretty darn close ...and it goes on in two minutes or less.Bottom line: It's a cost effective (tape is expensive!) alternative to taping that is quick and easy ...and probably 85-95% as stable as tape.Hope this review helps those who are in the same boat I was a few months ago.

This brace is very good at performing its main objective which is protecting your ankle. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of how long it takes to get the thing on and off. If I was to suggest an improvement it would be to ditch the lace up and make it all velcro.

I've been using these braces for a long time and one thing that is different about Shock Doctor?Cushioning and rubber outside for traction. You can use these barefoot and not slip in them. You also won't get rash or blisters as much.

I hike 2-3 times per week and managed to sprain my ankle coming down off of a mountain one evening. It put a kink in my plans until I found this brace. The support is phenomenal if you get the correct size. My ankle feels nice and secure as I have slowly gotten back into my usual hiking schedule.

Since nobody else will write a review about the sizing. Ill post a picture. Measure around your ankle one inch about the joint and the sizes will fit accordingly. I tore 3 ligaments and this brace helps my pain go down by restricting the motions that hurt. Very light yet heavy duty!

They are the best ankle supports!! They are very sturdy without being restrictive! It protects your ankle while allowing you to move appropriately.

It's almost impossible to delace and lace up since it has loop instead of eyelets for the laces. Quality is very poor, move on if you need a brace like with that will pull up your foot and stabilize it.

This wrap had been used and very dirty. The box was taped together with laces hanging out.
