4½/5 stars
Love Bites by Lynsay Sands Book #2: Argeneau Series Source: Purchase (Print and Audible) My Rating: 4½/5 stars After more than 300 years of living, Etienne Argeneau finally has some new entertainment. He has a Pudge. More specifically, Pudge is a completely disturbed human who has decided, in sad, his muddled mind that he must kill Etienne. After 300 years, Etienne is willing to play along until he or his family can come up with a way to safely dispose of the disturbed man. And then Etienne lands himself in the morgue . . . . twice! Rachel Garrett considers herself to be a rational woman of science, but when the corpse of the seriously hot man appears in her morgue, twice, it’s time to start questioning some things. Since a person can’t die twice, there must be an explanation. Thankfully, that explanation comes in two forms: 1) the first time he “died” was just a hallucination brought on by the flu; 2) the second time he “died” was because something called Pudge blew him up. But, what the hell is a Pudge and why was he going on and on about the dead man being a vampire and why are all the crispy burned bits flaking off? When Rachel eventually comes to, she has a metric ton of questions. One would think, after 300+ years of life, Etienne would be far better at answering questions. He is not, and it takes about 30 seconds for him to convince Rachel she is in the midst of a dream. A very long, very heavily populated, weirdly erotic dream, that involves Etienne’s mother . . . . wait, what? Since no one’s mother should ever appear in a wet dream, Etienne’s mother and sister take over and have a serious conversation with Rachel about her new life situation. Though Rachel is justifiably freaked out by her situation, she’s learning to cope with it with Etienne’s help. Though Rachel frustrates Etienne, she also challenges him and brings to life thoughts and feelings he has firmly tucked away for many a long and lonely decade. She’s sexy and smart, funny and capable, and willing to put in the hard work needed to adjust to her new life. She also loves his video game 😊 As if the new life training wheels weren’t enough, Rachel and Etienne also have to deal with the continued presence of Pudge. Dealing with Pudge is a necessity and as Rachel and Etienne soon find out, it is a necessity that will have to be dealt with sooner rather than later. Pudge has plans . . . . The Bottom Line: I liked this installment of the Argeneau series even better than the first! Rachel is hilarious in her determination to believe she is caught up in a dream, and Etienne’s “stupidity” after 300+ years of life is stunning. His poor mother 😊 There are so many funny, sexy, silly moments in this book that I couldn’t take my headphones off. Yeah, I listened to this one cover to cover, so to speak, in a single sitting and loved every minute. I particularly enjoyed watching Rachel unravel Etienne’s world and reminding him that he may be old, but there is a lot more living yet to be done. As for me, I have many more Argeneau’s to rediscover so it’s onward and upward . . . . .

So good !
This was the second time that I've read this book and you know what? It's just as good the second time around as it was the first time ! The story is basically a drama with romance and a little comedy thrown in making the story light hearted. It's a quick read and there's much more to come in the Argeneau series. If you're new to Lynsay Sands and her vampire (immortals) series, start with the first book in it, "A Quick Bite". You won't be sorry !

vampires with a twist & a bit of humor…
I found book 37 on EBay in paperback. Read the first chapter and decided I needed to start at the beginning. Love the wit and details!

Great read!
When I first had heard of the Argeneau Vampire series, I was instantly hooked. This one is the second one of the series and one again, I loved it! This one tells of a woman named Rachel, who works in a morgue on night shift. As a a "dead" body rolls up, a mysterious man shows up wanting to kill the "dead" man, claiming of him being a vampire. The now seemingly undead man saved her life. She hates him from keeping her to live her life, but little does she know that he has turned her and claimed her as his life mate. They eve fall in love with each other. This book is action packed, lustful and vampires(who doesn't like reading about vampires?). I absolutely love this series! Highly recommend!

Sands Vampire series leaves me a bit drained......
I really like the Argeneau Vampire series -The Argeneau family is fun and lively and their quirks are a hoot! That being said after three books with the formula being the same in all three - Fill in name of Argeneau family member - have him/her meet their life partner, and have them encounter a couple of road blocks and all ends well - it's starting to get old fast. At $7.00 a book I am thinking that I really don't want to read them all as I can't see where any of the rest of them are going to be different. I feel these books should have been priced at $2-$3. No higher. I don't know if Ms. Sands is just trying out this many volume d series fad, but I hope she will return to truly inspired stories like The Switch, The Husband List, The Reluctant Reformer, Lady Pirate, Bliss etc. etc. etc. Now those were stories worth reading!!

I really love your books. G bad, they're fictional and not really loved. I would really love for them to be real when mine meets my own immortal. And have the love of my . Linda

Etienne Argeneau has a problem. Pudge, a fan of his game Blood Lust, has become obsessed, realised Etienne is a vampire and keeps trying to kill him. After being run down and shot, Etienne is blown up and ends up in the morgue being examined by reluctant nightshift ME Dr Rachel Garrett. But when Pudge tries to behead Etienne Rachel gets in the way and ends up mortally wounded so Etienne returns the favour and saves her life in return...although with the realities of being a vampire, Rachel may not be willing to thank him. This is the second book in the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series (after A Quick Bite ) which is one of my favourite paranormal romance series. This continues in the same funny vein as the previous installment with some laugh out loud moments mixed in with the romance and drama. The storyline is well plotted and paced and the threat of Pudge lingers in the background of the novel adding a level of tension. This book is also different in that the mortal is turned at the beginning, rather than after everything has been explained leading to some amusing scenes. Etienne is a great lead and I love that he's really a closet computer geek. It was great to see him and Rachel bonding over a love of computer games. Rachel does well as a human dragged into a paranormal world, and her reluctance to accept her new reality is hilarious. It was interesting how the idea of vampires not being able to read their true mates mind played into their relationship, especially as Etienne had 300 years of being able to judge his flirting technique through the eyes of his date. I loved how Lissianna and Greg's relationship continues to develop in the background of this book, focusing on Lissianna's wedding shower and their wedding. It was also funny to see Greg giving Rachel advice over dating an immortal. I really enjoyed the world building here as more vampire based drinks unique to this series were introduced and explained such as Sweet Tooth, Sweet Ecstasy and Ever Enduring. Another thing I loved about this book was that it allowed the reader to get to know the other Argeneau's better especially Margeurite, Lucern, Bastien and Thomas. The last book introduced a heap of characters and there wasn't really a chance to get to know many of them so this was a nice change, particularly given that each of these characters have their own book further into the series. Part of what was so great about the ending was that it created a little overlap with Lucern's story (up next) and hinted at the beginning of Bastien's (book 4). All in all this was a great read and I'm really looking forward to Single White Vampire . Plot: 10/10 Characters: 10/10 Ending: 10/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Cover: 9/10 Overall: 49/50

A very interesting couple Rachel and Etienne are . We learn things about how this style of life works. Life mates , reading minds, how to react to each other when intimate sexually speaking ( very envious in that ). The humour I really love and you can miss it so quickly. Love how their relationship started and developed into love. A good ,warm romance.
