tiny gingerbread houses
I made two batches of these for tomorrow's family Christmas, so I'll share what works while it's fresh in my mind. I sprayed each compartment with Pam and dusted with flour. I used Trader Joe's gingerbread mix, filled to line (where the "ground" would be for each house). I cooked according to TJ package directions, 350 degrees for 25 min. (checked by inserting toothpick at 20 min and ready at 25 min.) Cooled for ten minutes, then used bread knife to slowly, gently, saw off muffin tops. (I could probably have avoided this by putting less dough in each compartment, but I loved eating those tops :-) Then turned over onto a silicone cutting mat and and -- whew -- all came out well. After they were really cooled, I dusted them with powdered sugar, which made a BIG difference in the appearance. (But don't do that while still warm or it just globs.) Re proportions, I used three packages of mix for two batches, but that included a LOT of BIG muffin tops; might be able to go one for one. Re cleaning, I put the pan back into the oven with water filling each compartment; after water started boiling, I emptied the pan, and not much scrubbing was needed. Used the water sprayer and a toothpick for a few little floury bits stuck at the bottom. So...they taste good and turned out well. VERY important thing to know is that they are TINY. I imagined that we would each decorate our house tomorrow, but that may not happen. One would need teeny tiny candies; I'm guessing that a couple of M&Ms on each side of the roof is about all we'll be able to do. So if you really want a gingerbread house to decorate, you need something bigger, but these are cute and yummy individual treats. Follow-up: we DID actually decorate the houses (my niece brought tiny candies) and adults and kids alike really loved it. I'm making it a new Christmas tradition.

Great
Excellent. Heavy, metal pan. The volume is that of a loaf pan, within a few grams. I typically use coconut oil to treat pans, as the nonstick Pam spray makes the product taste terribly. This one I use coconut oil and stick the pan in a preheated oven for few minutes. The cakes slid right out. Recipes will have to be adjusted for baking time. A little over half the time prescribed for a loaf pan seems to work.

Great gift!
I gave this as a gift and this is what the recipient had to say: "I was very impressed with the Nordic Ware Platinum Cozy Village Baking Pan. It is super sturdy and well made, something that will last for years and years. I liked the unique house design. The pan baked evenly and well. I was a little nervous about all the little nooks and crannies in the design and how my cake would release. I watched the YouTube video that was recommended for preparing the pan. It was easy to do and best of all it worked! The cakes released perfectly and there was very little residue left. Clean up was super easy! I am very happy with this pan!"

Very good quality
My great niece loves to decorate. She's not a sweet fan but loves to bake and decorate. She baked a cake in this mold and told me it came out so easy and did not break. Had it decorated so cute.

One Pan With So Many Possibilites.
When your first look at this baking pan your first thought might be how nice it will be for Christmas baking. But this is a beautifully designed and unique baking pan which will span the seasons. Yes, for Christmas a gingerbread village is perfect. But think of the haunted houses you could create for Halloween. Autumn scenes for Thanksgiving. Or an Easter Bunny village for Easter. You can order small treat boxes and use them to remember special people you want to remember. The pan comes with a recipe which will make a total of 12 houses. They can be decorated as simply or as elaborately as you wish. You can also use a cake mix if you are pressed for time and the little houses can make a creative centerpiece for a holiday table. It is very important to properly prepare this pan. Use the 'baker's spray' with the blue cap. Do not put this pan in a dishwasher, hand wash only and use a soft brush to make sure all crumbs are cleaned out. This pan is a great addition to your kitchen. Happy baking!

Tricky but cute!
The size of these little houses is adorable. They are so much easier and more fun to make & decorate than traditional gingerbread that falls apart. The details are a little hard to see but cute none the less. That being said, our first try baking was a HUGE fail. I prepped the pan with butter & flour and followed the "vanilla cake" recipe on the package. Everything stuck. It took 2 days of soaking and scrubbing with a bottle/nipple brush & straw brush to get the baked on bits out. UGH. 2nd try was a success! We used diy "Bakers Joy" - equal parts vegetable oil, crisco, and flour‐ and boxed cake mixes. Came out of the pan nicely. These bake weird and very puffy in the center, however we simply used a knife to trim them flat. The center house needed a few more minutes than the outer houses which got complicated ... next time I'll probably skip that inner house and only bake the outer 5 houses.

Love this Christmas Village baking pan!
This makes perfect little gingerbread (or other flavor) houses for the holidays. I baked a test set, and will be baking 4 sets of houses to decorate with my niece and sisters-in-law. It's a new tradition we just started last year on Christmas Day, and I thought having little muffin-type houses would be far better than trying to put together stale cookies. I used copious amounts of crisco, and no flour (gluten allergy). Filled the cups about 3/4 full (roughly 1 cup of batter), but forgot to do what another reviewer said about spreading the batter up the sides. So, mine came out with "muffin top" bottoms on them so they were more like weebles. I will remember to do that when I bake the sets we will decorate. It took about 25 minutes at 350 for them to fully bake. I let them sit about 15 minutes after they came out of the oven, and sure enough they popped right out when I flipped the pan over and gave a gentle whack. This is a great tradition-maker! With regard to cleaning - yes, there are crevices. I immediately filled the wells with hot soapy water and let it sit for a few minutes, then used a soft cloth to clean them out. A toothpick helps pick out the random few pieces stuck to the side.

Better than cardboard gingerbread
I love this company. They make durable baking pans that last. Seriously, this pan had some weight to it! It also made the cutest little houses. I bought it to make gingerbread houses with my kids instead of buying those awful cardboard tasting house kits from the stores. You can actually eat these houses after you decorate! Some tips: As with any of their bundt pans, you must thoroughly spray it so the cake will come out. Buy the oil+flour baking spray and give it a good coating before you pour in the batter. Then you will need to get rid of air bubbles by gently tapping the filled pan on a hard surface and stirring each house with a skewer. Your houses should come out easily and with all the cute details. Check to see if your cakes are done using a wooden skewer and not a toothpick, you want to be able to reach the middle to make sure it's fully baked.

Cozy Village
