Hape Wooden Colorful Happy Clock Knob Puzzle| Clock Time Learning Educational Toy for Kids

I bought this as one of the Black Friday deals on Amazon for about $8 after taxes and with free shipping. At this price, it is an amazing deal. Since I've been buying a lot of wooden toys for my toddler, I'm a lot more aware of what I need to look for now. Here's why I like this clock: 1. The wood is sanded down. There's no rough edges for my little one to scratch or hurt himself. 2. The paint is good quality. The paint did not come chipped and looks to be high quality. My little one did sneak it into his mouth a few times and after looking at it, he did not scrape off any of the paint. I bought a wooden block set from Melissa and Doug as well and the wood was not sanded down and the paint was chipped and looked like it was scraped off on several of the blocks. 3. It helps kids to learn to count by 5's, which are written along the edge of the clock. 4. It is also a fun number puzzle. It's a little annoying that the peg covers up some of the numbers but my little guy has amused himself with putting the numbers back in their correct place. Just wish the numbers were actual shapes instead of just amorphous blobs. 5. If you turn the big hand one entire revolution (60 minutes) then the hour hand will move to the next hour just like a real clock! 6. The clock is big and sturdy. Cons: It lays flat on a table or rug. It is heavy so don't drop it on your foot. The number pieces are small and a possible choking hazard for those with young siblings who still put things in their mouth.

This product is perfect for a child who is learning colors, numbers, how to put a puzzle together and for one who wants to learn the time. It's also very cute so any child would love looking at it. It have hung it on the wall in my child's room, since she is too young to play with it (because of the small pieces). She is only 2 1/2 months old any way, so she can't do anything but to look at it. She does love looking at it though, I must say! I recommend this product for anyone's child! I chose this product because it is cute. I love the fact on it. I also love the vibrant colors. Pediatricians and psychologists say that children love bright happy colors and I would have to agree.

We ordered this to help with teaching little ones to tell time - I love that it has the 5 / 10 / 15 etc minutes listed on the outside circle to help them make the connection. It is great that the little hand is a different color than the big hand for them to be able to distinguish them visually more easily. I am also pleased that they have o'clock, quarter after, half past, and quarter to / of written on the clock. That is helpful for advanced teaching. One strange thing to me is that the numbers ( 1 - 12 ) are removable. While younger kids love playing with this, and it works as a puzzle (analytical thinking work for them), it makes it very easy to lose pieces of the clock and have frustrated children. One good thing is that even though the numbers are removable, the number is also printed on the wood underneath the piece - so if you do lose one, at least the number is still there for you to be able to use the clock. That is the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

My son requested this for his 3rd birthday. (I asked if there was anything at school that he would like to have at home, and he said a "face clock" and pointed out this one while peeking over my shoulder on Amazon.) So cute, and a great way to learn numbers and the basics of a clock. Well-made, and fits with Montessori-style activities. What I like best about it is that it can be used in a few different ways, depending on how advanced the child is. (He doesn't have to know how a clock works yet to use the number puzzle. And the numbers could be used to illustrate basic math problems or groups of objects, etc.) It also has the minutes around the outside, in multiples of 5.

The Happy Hour Clock has an adorable smiling face to get kids interested. The colors are very vibrant. For anyone interested, the product is actually made in China but is printed using soy ink and water based paint. It meets the European and American safety standards EN 71 and ASTM. The pieces and puzzle base are a very nice quality wood. Unlike other reviews, my pieces were not loose. They fit in nicely. Also, the minute hand is about half an inch larger than the hour hand so they are distinguishable. The 6 & 9 are hard to tell apart because they are the same color. The only improvement, would be having the pieces a little larger so the peg could be placed above the numbers rather than right in the center. The number 4 is hard to see. I like the fact this puzzle can grow with the child. First they can learn the numbers and later advance to learn time telling. Overall, this is a very nice quality puzzle.

I think this wooden clock puzzle is a wonderful tool for teaching a child numbers, colors, as well as to tell time. The removable puzzle piece numbers are brightly colored to help engage a child's attention. The face of the clock is an actual smiling face with movable hands. I really like that this clock is a combination of numbers, words, and a puzzle. The puzzle portion of this is great fine motor skills development. Unless supervised by an adult, I do not recommend this clock for toddlers 3 and under as the numbers are small and could easily be put in the toddler's mouth.

This product is useless for telling time - the hour and minute hands do not move together! It’s basically just a clock shaped puzzle and something to donate.

Perfect for my one year old grandson. He obviously cannot tell the time yet but he can fit the shapes in place and it is getting him used to numbers and the clock face.
