Fantastic bargain
I had not played in 20+years. I had learned on a beginner's precision bass. I did a ton of research and decided on what I wanted to invest. Hands down this is the best option. The sound is incredible. It is what I had wanted before but couldn't afford. No it's not built in the USA but the build quality is excellent. Shipping was fast and packing was well done. Was actually in tune. I was not wanting red but now I am happy about the color. Suprising wide range of tone quality. Very solid bass but not really heavy. Jazz bass is the way to go for me.

Pretty nice
Really solid guitar. Sounds as good as it looks. Thumping mid and powerful treble. Used to prefer the precision style body and neck. I prefer this design now as it contours to the body more naturally. The action was set up as low as it can get with no sign of buzzing. I expected to have to change out the strings right out of the box. Nope. Strings are alright. Whole lot of instrument right here!!

Great value
Pretty legit bass for a very low price. Mine came setup fairly well. Remember to tune it before you play. Mine was super flat and had fret buzz when I first played it, but as soon as I turned it, the action was decent.

A great choice for my first bass
Have been playing Guitar (and piano) for many decades, but for some reason decided to try out this Bass Guitar. Didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I prefer to see the Fender logo on the headstock as I have many other Fender products and their stuff is generally quite good (even the imported sub-brands). Just to be specific it's really a Squier by Fender, made in China. The build quality and setup as received was 99% perfect, I was able to tune it up, put on a strap and start playing almost immediately. Really a fun, great feeling. I'm using BandFuse to get me started so I can play along with many familiar tunes right away (BandFuse comes with simplified versions of the bass tabs so you can get away with just basic skills). Anyway the 1% problem was a small crack on the top of one of the Volume knobs. It was pretty minor but since the bass is brand new I ordered some generic Jazz Bass Knob replacements on Amazon (for about $6) and they press-fit right on, now it looks truly perfect. This is still a 5-star product even with that very minor negative detail (many folks wouldn't have even noticed the crack), mainly due to the fantastic value proposition (i.e. price as delivered). I'm also getting a tortoiseshell pickguard to upgrade the look, but other than that I plan on leaving it bone stock.

Very cool 1st bass.
Just learning to play the bass so don't expect too much informed details comparing this to other Fender Basses. Delivery was in a couple of days, no damage or blemishes in the finish. I tuned and plugged it into my amp and started playing within a half hour. Had to tune it a couple of times the 1st day (new strings), but has stayed in tune since! The pickups and tone volume adjustments work just fine. No buzzing or weird feedback. I am going to take it to a music shop and have it properly set up, but for right out of the box this bass is fantastic. This bass is so much fun! I highly recommend it if your looking for your 1st bass.

Unbelievably happy
Believe it or not this is one of the best basses Iโve ever owned. I bought this bass only with the intentions of using it for upcoming performances while my main bass was being repaired, the plan was to only use the squire for about 3 weeks until my bass was fixed then get rid of it except Iโve enjoyed playing this bass so much that itโs now become my main bass. I am just blown away by how great these squire bass guitars are and I very much love how it feels in my hands and yet itโs only a $200 bass. I absolutely recommend this bass to anyone looking for a bass on a budget or just to own it truly is s great guitar

Great Affordable Bass
For such an affordable bass, this has really impressed me so far. The build quality is excellent and it was playable right out of the box. I'm not sure if it was officially set up, but the action and intonation was spot-on. I even lowered the action and still didn't get any buzzing or dead spots. Given the price point, I realize I may have just gotten lucky, but in any case it plays great. It is a little heavier than any of my electric guitars, but its definitely not bad. My one complaint is that the shipping box was pitifully small and offered almost no protection. Somehow the bass arrived intact though, despite the box being caved in on one side and covered in FedEx bootprints.

Great bass
I ordered this bass for my 10 yr old son for Christmas who plays the stand up and electric bass at school. He is really enjoying playing it and as a result has practiced more. He showed it to his instructor who was amazed at how nice it was for the Amazon price we paid.

this baby plays like a charm
My first bass ever. Of course being a Fender jazz bass copy (made by Fender) it needed an initial setup (trust rod, string action, tuning, pickup height) but after it was done, this baby plays like a charm. That's a lot coming from a total noob on bass guitar. The tone is very rich and virtually unlimited. It has 2 volume knobs, one for each pickup, that you can tweak to get the desired tone, plus a tone knob that will shape your tone on both pickup for more variety and style. Mine came without the usually included hex wrench (bridge saddles and trust rob hex key), but I guess it was a mistake from the manufacturer. Used the one for my GWL strat style guitar for the saddle, fortunately it was of the same gauge. Had to use one of those I had in my tool box since the one for the guitar was too small for the bass trust rod adjustment. Removed one star because of that. Otherwise it is a great bass (and do not get me started on the "beginner bass"). That bass can certainly be brought to any gig without feeling cheap. It is still a Fender after all. At that price point (and I know I have paid much less than what other sellers ask for that guitar) it is a total steal. I would recommend it to anyone starting off on bass, or even any professional bass player on a budget that would like to get a Fender without breaking the bank. Or if you, a guitar player like myself, need to record your own bass line in Reaper, to complement your guitar tracks. [EDIT] About my missing wrenches, right after I received the bass, I e-mailed them (the actual store that sold it on Amazon, Cosmo Music), with all the required information (product ID, serial number, proof of purchase) and told them those things were missing. A couple days later I got the missing part by mail, and all was fine. Putting back the missing star for that alone. Good service will always weight more than best price.

Nice Bass
Great bass for price, does need to be set up as a bit of string buzz. No English instructions with it, just Spanish which wasn't helpful.
