Let's talk about sizing
First, I have to say these shoes are awesome! The color (I got the Black Splash), the quality of the leather, and the comfort are fantastic. But European sizing is something I am just starting to get a handle on. When you look at a size chart that starts with the measurement of your foot, you would think the conversions would be simple, but evidently not. My feet are 9 5/8" long, which is a true size 8. So according to the conversion chart, I should buy a 38, which is a U.S. size 8 -8.5. Not so much. The shoes were far too small, so I went up a size to the 39 in order to get a good fit. Many European sizes designate a 39 as 8.5 - 9, but this shoe considers a 39 to be a 9 - 9.5. I am a true size 8, but in this shoe I wear a 39. I hope that helps other people who are struggling with sizing. ***UPDATE***The 39 fit perfectly for the Black Splash, and I liked these shoes so much that I bought another pair in Doily. They are really cute, but again the size is off. I bought the 39 thinking they were the same shoes, but evidently not because they are a half size too big. I can't return them because I did a leather treatment on them, but if I wear them with thick socks they should be okay. I just don't understand how a shoe that is the same in every way except for the pattern can be a different size. Arrgghhh!

Not great if you have flat feet and will be standing for a few hours
I have collapsable arches and it is almost impossible for me to find a pair of comfortable, sturdy, pair of shoes that provide good support. I love Birkenstocks but there are few designs that have a closed heel. I spend several hours a day on my feet as a healthcare worker, and have a pair of Danskos and Sanitas. The Danskos are very sturdy and have great arch support but so heavy and stiff that I have twisted my ankles in them several times. The Sanitas are great, have good arch support, and aren't as heavy. However, they are still kind of hard and stiff and very plain. I was looking for another brand that had some cute designs and was recommended this brand by another healthcare worker. When I saw these online, I thought the designs were cute. When I bought them, they were extremely comfortable. They have a nice cushion and seemed to have a good arch support when I first tried them on. I wore them in the ER - they were comfortable, easy to keep clean, and weren't so heavy as to impede me walking fast. However, I wore them on rounds and they are not supportive enough for several hours. The arch support was not sturdy enough while standing still. So I can wear these at the hospital if I don't expect to me on my feet for long periods of time but avoid wearing these when I know I'll be standing. If you have good arches, I suppose these will work, but they just aren't for me.

Good Work Shoe
So far I have worn these clogs for three days and they are great! I am an operating room nurse and us nurses spend the majority of our shifts on our feet. I don't know a single nurse that doesn't work on concrete floors. The shoes do make a squeaking noise when you wal even with shoe covers on, but I don't intend on sneaking up on anybody. I attribute that noise to a substantial gripping, non-skid sole. I wear thinner socks or support hose to accommodate the fit and they seem to not feel as tight. They actually feel pretty good. My heels don't ache at the end of the day because of the nice supportive foot bed. I like the fact that the foot bed is removable. I believe they will stretch with wearing (all of my shoes have done that). I feel this was a very wise purchase and will probably purchase again.

extremely comfortable
I have a size 10.5 foot, and when I read the other reviews, i noted that people felt that the shoe runs small, so I orderd and 11-11.5. When I tried them on , the fit was a little loose, but with socks, it was perfect. They get a 4 star becuase the design of this shoe (they are very wide at the toe) and the fact that i have big feet to begin with makes these clogs appear HUGE...I mean Minnie Mouse HUGE. BUT, when I wore them for my first shift, they were so comfortable, I just did not care how they looked. Maybe I wil buy my next pair with a design on them to camoflauge the size.

Nurse: Okay, but not up for 12 hour shifts
I am a nursing student and currently going through my preceptorship, therefore I am on my feet for several 12 hour shifts during the week. I have a pair of danskos that I normally wear, but I decided to try something different. The fit was as expected for these alegrias, but the comfort level after only one shift was well below what was expected. The soles of my heels hurt so bad after the one shift and I immediately wanted to get home and take them off. I wore them a second day, but I received the same result. On the third day I went back to my danskos, and haven't experienced event a fraction of the pain I felt after wearing the alegrias. The arch support of the alegrias was very low and very little when compared to the danskos. I liked that the price was reasonable when compared to other styles of alegrias, but from now on I will only buy the danskos.

Love them!
I am an ICU nurse and find myself standing for long procedures or running through the hospital. I never have issues sliding out as the inside is somewhat slip resistant, they don't take as long to break in like some brands, and they are great on my knees and lower back too. I wear a 9.5 and ordered a size 40 and they were perfect except the right shoe near my toe on the outer side rubbed a little the first few times. I wore a bandaid as added protection after the first night for 2 days and then never needed it again. I always get compliments. The only downfall is when I spill something on them, it is hard to see where (like blood) because of the design... some may say that's an upside but I'm a clean freak leaving that unit once my shift is over.

Alegria shoes have been a lifesaver for me!
I have Rheumatoid arthritis and it affects my feet with chronic swelling, and tremendous pain, I honestly could not walk without these shoes at times. The swelling and pain is so bad that putting my feet on the floor is painful but I can put these shoes on and walk with a lot less pain. I am not sure how the shoes help with the pain but the foot bed is so comfortable, they have great support, a lots of room in the toes area (which it a HUGE plus) and very well made. These specific clogs were a little tight at first but after a day of wearing them they loosened up!
