MSR Base 2 Pot Set

The pots nestle well, the sole lid fits either pot snuggly (with a lip that is either sitting into or outside the large/small pot rim). The handle detaches to be attached to either pot. Unfortunately it's not the same universal pot grabber (spondonical) as most other pots so it can't be shared in a group -- but it does click the pot set closed in a cool way.So far the non-stick is working great. I don't expect it to last spectacularly though. Already some careful packing of goods within the pots (admittedly with some exposed metal) has made small scratches. The non-stick never does last with the abuse pots get in the backcountry though, so fair enough.Final take: Very light, good size, fit my needs as a somewhat (fairly?) weight conscious backcountry climber/skier etc.

My wife and I invited a couple of friends who don't camp to come with use one weekend, which meant my 2 person set up would no longer work. After looking at several option I decided on the MSR Base 2 set and I'm glad I did. We car camp, so I cannot speak for having to carry this in a pack for several miles a day, but I enjoyed cooking with this set. If you are going to be cooking solo or just two people, this may be a bit much, but for the four people in our group this was perfect.

We got these to use in our little camper-van where we cook on a 1-burner stove for only two people. We used them on a 14,000 mile road trip to Alaska and they worked out perfectly. We can only cook one thing at a time on our stove but the pots can be set aside and will keep the first thing hot for quite a while while you cook a second thing. They nest inside each other with no handle sticking out so they fit very well in our tight storage space. After 90 days of daily use they still look brand new. Couldn't be happier!

Really good if you want to do a little more actual cooking on the trail vs. boiling dehydrated meals. Non-stick is awesome for meal cleanup, but not so great if you want to stick in the pot a fire (you can't). Same goes for the plastic handle mechanism, which restricts the pan from being usable in the fire, but is a breeze to quickly change out from pan to pan, while still remaining sturdy.

I purchased this set to use for camping. I wanted something that was compact and lightweight yet not cheap in quality. These MSR pots fit the bill perfectly! They are well constructed and very light and I love that you can store the pots together in one compact package. The handles are deceptively strong and have a clever design in that they will never accidentally detach.Overall, these MSR pots are well designed and well made at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Great lightweight set, but just be very careful with the teflon, and it should last for years

Yes, the pots are non-stick and work well on a camp stove. The lid is also very handy, especially with the built-in strainer. However, the handle is a major hazard! When I attached it to a pot of boiling water to remove it from the stove, the plastic on the handle rapidly bubbled and melted, severely burning my hand (I wasn't even holding it over a direct flame). This is a major failing for camp cookware.Since it was after Amazon's return period, I might try to find a heat-resistant silicone handle cover; otherwise, these pots are worthless.

So you sped 40 bucks on 2 ppts and msr doesnt give you a carry bag? Just toss it around and get it all dinged up i guess - lame

I travel a lot and so I carry kitchen essentials with me - including a pot, and it weighs 1.4kg! I needed something lighter, read reviews, found these, bought them. They're everything I hoped for - I'm completely satisfied. They are extremely light, the handle is very solid - you feel completely comfortable turning a pot full of water on its side, to drain the water out. The strainer in the lid works absolutely perfectly - very fast flow of water, very nearly none left in the pot after. Thumbs up all the way and completely satisfied. (The set of pots is BTW integrated; the handle you have fits deliberately over the plastic hold "handle" of the lid, and holds it in place.)Addendum - the pots are even nicer than I thought. I for the first time have come to use both at once. It turns out the lid fits *both* pots. There's an indent in the lid, so it fits correctly and properly onto the small pot, and the strainer also still works just as with the larger pot. I am impressed. A lot of thought and intelligence has gone into this. I have to see how well it holds up now with use, but that takes time so I can't comment on that yet. I will be looking at MSR in the future when I need products they make.

Ordered on friday, came the next day, pots seem good, well made, as with anything from msr, not tried them yet but first impressions are great

Ich habe das Set ca. 10 Tage benutzt, bis sich beim Kochen von Wasser die Beschichtung am Topfboden (siehe Fotos) gelöst hat. Ich habe das gekochte Wasser betrunken und starke Bauchschmerzen und Schwindel von dem gelösten Teflon bekommen. Ich rate daher dringend un-beschichtete Edelstahltöpfe statt diesen zu verwenden! Zusätzlich ist das Plastik am Griff geschmolzen, sodass man den Griff kaputt brechen musste um ihn vom Topf zu entfernen.

Ich bin mehr als zufrieden mit dem MSR Topfset. Da wir vorher immer unsere normalen Töpfe eingepackt haben, stellt das Topfset im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes eine Erleichterung dar! Wir haben noch die passende Pfanne von MSR dazu und sind so perfekt ausgestattet.Es hat jetzt schon einige Urlaube mitgemacht und die beiden Töpfe sind noch wie neu. Auch an den abnehmbaren Griffen merkt man noch keine Abnutzngserscheinungen. Nur der Boden der Pfanne hat sich inzwischen leicht gewölbt. Die Beschichtung ist aber unversehrt. Reinigung ist auch wunderbar. Volle Punktzahl!
