Update 1-26-2019: The BBQ/Typewriter tick came back this morning. So, I'd say that if you're trying to use the Ceratec to quiet the tick, it will work for a little while, but will eventually return. I don't think there's anything else that can be done to quiet the tick and it's a crap shoot if you get it serviced. In my case, it only ticks during warm up after the transition from high idle, and goes away completely once the entire engine is fully warmed up, so I'm just going to live with it. I'm still giving the Ceratec a 5 because it did reduce my friction enough for a small MPG improvement, so I believe it works as advertised and I'm not going to blame them for not silencing the tick. Update 1-20-2019: After a few days with only the one bottle poured in, my tick came back. Since one bottle is only 1/2 the recommended concentration for the 10 quarts in a 2018 Mustang GT, I bought another bottle and added it and the tick is now gone again. We'll see if it lasts. I can tell you that my fuel economy has improved. I have a little over 11,000 miles now and I always display my fuel economy meter and I use it. I've never reset my average fuel economy meter since the day I bought the car new. I've been pretty well stuck at 21.6 MPG for the last couple months. Since I've put in the Ceratec, my average fuel economy has increased to 21.8 MPG, so it's jumped 0.2 MPG in roughly 2 weeks. With over 11,000 miles included in the average, it takes a pretty significant improvement in friction to make that average move that much in that short a time. Even if my tick comes back again, I'm sold on Ceratec for the friction reduction alone. I'll update the review again if the tick comes back. Original Review: My 2018 Mustang GT developed the infamous BBQ/Typewriter tick immedaitely after my first oil change. I used Mobil One synthetic at 3500 miles on my first oil change. I did my 2nd oil change at 10K miles with Mobile One, but the tick was still present. After seeing people on YouTube having success eliminating their tick with Ceratec and after reading the one other review of a 2018 Mustang GT owner here on Amazon, I decided to try it. I ordered 1 bottle. It arrived on a Friday and poured it in immediately after I got home from work. It's an hour drive one way to work, so the engine was at operating temperature, where, in my case, the tick goes away. I only get it when the engine switches from high idle to normal idle after a cold start and the tick is quite loud for at least the 15 minutes it takes for me to get to the drive through where I get my morning coffee, where I can really hear the tick echoing off the wall. After pouring it in, I started the car and let it idle, but didn't really notice any change. I then took it for a drive and did some hard pulls to get the engine to rev under load to the red line. After that, I put the car in the garage until I drove to work on Monday. When I went to the drive through to get my morning coffee, there was no tick! It was gone! I listened real hard, but all I could hear was the normal direct injector pump noise. Then, after my hour long drive to work, I left car running and got out to listen. With the hood closed, it was quieter than at any time since I bought it. It was virtually silent. Even the DI pump noise was barely audible. The car also sounded and felt different during the drive to work. The engine seemed like it was smoother somehow. It might have been my imagination, but after the silence in my parking spot at work, I wouldn't be surprised if the engine did run smoother. At any rate, I only used 1 bottle to treat the 10 quarts of oil, which is half the amount the mfg says to use. So, I'll see how long it lasts, but it definitely worked even at half its normal concentration. I highly recommend it for anyone who has the 2018 Mustang GT tick.

UPDATE 3-22-17: Ceratec is, if one can believe it, gotten even smoother in my wife's 2011 Outback 3.6R. Cooling fans run noticeably less when AC is not on after a hot drive. Cold startup on a 40 degree F morning sounded just like a hot start on an 80 degree day. MPG gain has remained. Wife comments that the engine seems to rev more easily. Also applied to my 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet's 3.4 liter flat 6. Instant improvement in smoothness both at idle and when revving. Actually has made it more difficult to intentionally stall the car on my steep driveway. Engine coolant temps also read slightly lower (just slightly). I used one bottle for the 10 quarts of oil in the engine....at HALF the treat rate, I'm seeing a marked improvement. Next oil change I will transition from M1 0w-40 to Castrol 0w-40 (a better oil, with a slightly higher KV) and will add another full bottle of Ceratec and report back. Only approx 600 miles on this Ceratec treatment and the improvements are growing, as in the 2011 Outback. Seems like every drive it gets ever-so-slightly smoother....especially when cold. ******************************************************************************************************** This added noticeable smoothness and .5 mpg to my 2011 Subaru Ourback 3.6R Limited. The engine was already smooth with Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30, but this increased that smoothness at all RPMs. The engine is physically quieter at idle, especially with the sound deadening engine cover removed. This was an immediate difference. I then took the vehicle on a 300 mile round trip on the highway and the improvement has remained. The engine was already very quiet from inside the car, but it has gotten even quieter. It sounds very much like a turbine now and it is very pleasing. Gaining a solid .5 MPG is also excellent. This is outstanding insurance against cold-start wear, even when it's NOT actually cold outside for those high pressure contact areas in the engine crank journal bearings, cam lobes, lifter contact areas, etc.

Very cheap compared to buying it locally, here in my country. Used the Ceratec with the Leuchtlauf High Tech oil. 143K miles on my 2.5 mk6 Jetta. It started to make some tappet/lifters noise, very minimal but it was there. As soon as I started the engine, and about 30 minutes in , I could clearly hear the difference. How I heard the difference? With the hood closed now I can barely hear the engine, unless I put my ear close to the grille. Now I only hear the working injectors. Totally recommended. Can’t speak about gas consumption, I’ll have to drive 500-1000 miles to speak confidently. Recommended for giving older engines a longer lifespan. Update: After 15 days or so, and about 150-200miles later, I noticed my Jetta’s engine feels lighter and smoother. No placebo effect, it’s just there. Since I bought two Ceratec bottles, I used the second bottle on a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with the Mivec 2.0 engine. These engines are quite noisy, specially the injection noises, and I had a very concerning lifters ticking. I did my oil change yesterday, and today the ticking is gone, all I did was use Liquimolys engine flush, Valvoline oil and the Ceratec. I’ll post an update if I get better fuel economy and smoothness on my Mitsu.

There's no miracle potion for your very broken mechanical parts. I've used this product on five different cars. My fully built big turbo Audi, built small block Corvette, and a couple old high mileage trucks. The high mileage stuff I do some engine flushing techniques, basic tune up, and component cleaning when I buy the vehicle. Then I add ceratec. Keep in mind this is a friction reducer and nano filler, not necessarily a cleaner. This product is good in my opinion in filling slightly worn tolerances as advertised and supplying superior lubricity. If you have an audible knock, tick, or are topping off your oil at gas stops... YOUR BUCKET IS BUSTED... You need to perform an actual repair, no additive is going to work to reverse the damage, In fact if you have a vehicle that gets largr quantities of oil in your combustion chamber this is probably going to screw up your plugs and subsequently mpg and performance (talking to you too rotary guys!) You're also not going suddenly compete with Tesla's, but there is a noticeable quietness, smoothness, and fractional mpg increase from this product. That's not always going to be an immediate and overwhelming experience, if that's what you're after spend $5k on a supercharger. It does do more than any other additives have provided in most peoples experiences and testing, and that's why it is so highly reviewed. If it's broken, get it fixed. If you want a miracle pray. If you want to keep it from breaking use this stuff.
