I was time for a change. I've owned many mats, but all of them roll up rather than fold, and no matter how thick they were, the foam sunk in so my knees and tailbone weren't protected from our hardwood floor. So I went searching through Amazon and other retailers for a mat that folded rather than rolled up, one with mostly positive reviews, and hopefully cost under $50. One of the highest rated was the CAP Barbell All Purpose Folding Anti Tear mat. I've owned many CAP fitness items, from barbells and weights to benches, and I've always found their gear to be a combination of above-average quality and reasonable prices, so I ordered the mat. This mat arrived well-boxed, not just shoved in a transparent plastic wrap. Not only did it arrived in a cardboard shipping box, it was also packed in a plastic wrap. When I opened it, it had no strong or unpleasant smells, just a very faint odor that wasn't unpleasant. It had no tears or damage of any sort. I unfolded it, put it on the floor, and got down on it. I found the foam was dense enough to keep my knees from sinking through to the floor, and when doing bridges, it kept my hands and feet off the floor. A variety of exercises later, I found not even my elbows sunk through to the floor. The foam is comfortable to me, and it protects me from the hard wood floor. Awesome! For reference, I currently weigh 145 lbs. While my husband said it was like a mat at PT, I don't think the stitching is that good. On the other hand, it cost about a quarter of what the mats at PT (or Lululemon) cost, so that's fair. I'm very happy with my CAP Barbell All Purpose Folding Anti Tear mat. It protects my elbows, knees, hands and sit bones from the floor, letting me do my exercises and PT in comfort on the floor rather than on the bed, which is a huge improvement.

Terrific gym mat. Lightweight yet 2” thick. I tried it at 155 pounds and it is awesome. Our 7 year old granddaughter is learning gymnastics. It folds small to slide under bed in tri-fold. Has a carry handle and is super light weight yet very sturdy. Younger sister does stumbling on it and perfect for any active child plus light enough they can carry it themselves.

I bought this all-purpose folding anti-tear exercise mat to use under my kids’ gymnastics bar, and it’s been great for that purpose. The mat is thick and very well-padded — exactly what I wanted to add extra safety and cushioning when the kids practice, climb, or occasionally lose balance. The material feels strong and durable, and even with daily use it still looks like new. The surface isn’t non-slip, but the padding and overall sturdiness still make it feel secure and comfortable. It also folds up easily, which is super convenient when we need to move it or put it away. Overall, a thick, sturdy, high-quality mat that works perfectly for kids’ gymnastics or general home workouts!

Love it! Perfect thickness, very durable and a pretty pink color just as pictured. Also, able to store and carry because it easily folds up and the due to the attached handles. Works great!

This is a great mat! It is really durable and easy to clean. We like how thick the cushioning is and it provides good support. It is easy to fold up and unfold which makes storing it really nice. We have used it for multiple purposes around our house including cleaning and painting that requires kneeling. A good product at a reasonable price.

It's fine, but different material/fabric than European and American school or public gyms. It has a small spot/stain, but I will keep it anyway to re-practice tumbling and other floor exercises I used to do in school as a kid and also at gyms as an adult.

I asked for this as a gift to exercise and I am completely happy with this product. It is firm but soft enough to be comfortable on my joints and bones when laying on it. Absolutely perfect, and it folds up very easily to store it next to my multigym.

This mat is wonderful for my floor exercises. Situps used to be painful because my back would dig into the floor, and my wife's thin yoga mat didn't cushion adequately. This mat instantly solved the problem for me completely. This foam is thicker than the yoga mat we had, so it provides much better protection. Yet at the same time it's a lot easier to handle than the yoga mat too, because it is lighter, stiffer, and has a less grippy surface, making it really easy to fold and slide under the bed. Foldability is further enhanced by the fact that it's 3 stiff squares bound by soft material, so it naturally goes into an easy Z-fold for quick storage. Putting it away takes me about 2 seconds total: 1 second to push it into the Z-fold, then another second to slide it under my bed. Also, while I'm describing the squares as "stiff", they're not hard, they are just firm, but they are supple and supportive too. I was worried by some reviews saying it was too hard, but I found it to be just right for me. I weigh 200 lbs, so maybe something on the stiffer side works better for me than for someone lighter, I don't know. For me the stiffness is perfect: stiff enough to completely shield me from the floor, yet soft enough to absorb my bones so that the contact points don't hurt. No more pain doing floor exercises!

keeps my boys safe - we bought this to go under our indoor playground to protect the kids from the cement floor in the basement. The kids are really active and have remained safe and no bruises.

Exactly as described. Nice, thick mat that has an easy to clean surface, lightweight. Good for people with who can’t place a lot of weight on their knees.
