Review: Really turned out great on my project. Forgiving paper. - I ordered the Vintage Peel and Stick Checkered Wallpaper Black and Brown Mosaic Checkered Contact Paper Self Adhesive. I specifically ordered these to add some artistic flair to some boring furniture. I have a couple end tables that have some sort of particle board on them, and I wanted to put this effect on top. I've done this before with other furniture, and because it's so much work with all the layers, I decided I will just do the very top instead of the shelving underneath them. This is a decent sized roll, and there was a cute puppy sticker that was included that I appreciate. Sometimes rolls like this come with an exacto or putty knife but this one doesn't which is fine as I have my own. It's a pretty decent thickness, and the color looks nice. In person, this pattern looks more like a very dark blue and off-white. I have some bold black and white contact paper, and when I have them sitting next to each other, that's where I can notice the color difference. However, if I don't have that next to this I suppose the squares do look black it's just a duller color. I went right to work, and it took me a lot of time to do this, because the checkered squares are so large. In order for the pattern to look balanced, you really want all sides to be about the same. It was a lot harder for me to do this with the big squares versus other furniture I made with smaller squares. I had to remove part of this over 20 different times which was actually starting to pull off some of the paint on the particle board, because I couldn't get the placement perfect for my liking. However, after doing that so many times I was very surprised this didn't rip since normally what can happen. At one point I nearly had it all the way on and had to remove it, so it was very forgiving. When I was finally finished it's still stuck well after all of that wear and tear that I did in order to get it perfect, and I was so pleased. It was really easy to deal with the bubbles so I didn't really need a putty knife, and it was kind of satisfying to hear them get pushed out. The end result looks really nice and classy. I've already had compliments, and I have a lot left on this roll to use for other projects. One thing I noticed about this and other contact papers that are similar is they are a little delicate and scratch easily especially on the dark colors. I had some collectibles sitting on this and I slid one of them across it where I scratched the darker squares. I knew better, though, so that's my own fault. Overall, I'm really pleased with this since it turned out better than I expected, and I was very pleased with help forgiving it was with my mishaps, thank you. Review: Absolutely gorgeous on a fridge! - Pros: -Very cute and very true to the colors shown. It is a nice blush pink and white, and it looks cute once applied. I overall really like it and think it works well for a lot of surfaces. -It comes with a couple of small stickers in the same material, which are cute just to decorate with, but also make great "test" pieces to see if this will peel your paint or stick well in a specific place. For me, I was very happy to have an option to test how the vinyl would apply without having to worry about any problems. -I love the thick quality of the vinyl. This feels very, very high quality. I also have wiped it down since applying it and it cleaned nicely without any peeling. Very nice! -I ultimately applied the vinyl to my refrigerator and it looks great and modern, with a very fun pop of color in my kitchen. It stuck very well to the fridge (I have an older fridge, not a stainless steel modern fridge, and my fridge has a slight orange peel texture to it). -It did not leave any residue when I peeled off the test sticker from my fridge after a week (I cannot vouch for any residue after it being on any longer). Cons: -If you're looking for something that looks like realistic tile, this really isn't it. It looks pretty "flat" once applied. For me, this is okay, but for those looking for a true tile feeling, it really doesn't hit in the same way that a faux tile will. -The test sticker did peel some paint off of my wall after a few days applied (I had initially gotten it for my walls rather than my fridge), so definitely keep that in mind if you are a renter. That said, it does seem to apply well to something like foam board and poster board, so it would likely be possible to put it onto something and then put that something onto your apartment wall, if you want your deposit back. I think overall this is a great product if you're looking for a cute pop of color, but definitely test it on your surface beforehand if you are concerned with possible damage, and also remember that it won't mimic real tile in the checkerboard aesthetic. I love it, personally!
