High quality, sturdy - but reinforce w/plywood
I overbuild everything, to ridiculous standards. I had high expectations for this door system and wasn't disappointed. It's very easy to install, clear instructions, and the double soft close function is great. Seems appropriately priced, as well. The metal split studs are about as sturdy as one can expect, but still flimsy compared with a stud wall. So what I did was attach 3/4" plywood across the whole wall that this was a part of, and put 1/2" drywall on top of that (you could use 1/4" drywall instead). In hindsight, I wish I would've put drywall on both sides of this. It would've helped balance the trim width on both sides and provided more for the trim to grab on both sides vs just one side. I hung a very heavy, solid core wood 36" door and don't have concerns of its strength. Overall, highly recommend.

Great Solution. Good Videos.
I had a contractor install a pocket door frame. He got a wooden pre-made frame kit from 84 Lumber. I checked the price and it is about $150 at Home Depot. During the initial quoting of my project (much more than just the door, the contractor convinced me to go with a 36" door. This turned out to be too big. It's my fault because I agreed. The job involved an exterior wall and 2 interior walls. The interior was not to be finished (open framing). The pocket door frame was installed (no door yet) and after looking at it for a while I decided it was too big. I decided to fix this myself. I removed the 36" door frame. I narrowed the wall framing to 30". I could buy another wood frame (I couldn't return the original). I didn't want to pay the contractor to do my change. His work was good, but he ended up pricey. I researched solutions and came upon this frame. It comes as a universal kit (trim it to width) or as in this case already the 30" size I wanted. I could have save about $40 if i used the universal and cut it myself. But having never installed a pocket door before, I didn't want to risk a mistake. If I were to do another, I would use the kit. This product is fantastic. It is far superior to the wooden frame. It is easy to install and level. It includes a Soft Open and Close feature that the wooden frame kit did not have. The soft open and close works perfectly. It comes unassembled, and was shipped by a parcel carrier. It wasn't bulky like the wooden frame which would not fit in my car. This frame kit does fit in the car. I gave it 4 stars for installation because it is a bit difficult if you don't have some carpentry skills and experience with doors. I was never a professional contractor. My skills are good, however there are trade skill that I never learned. The online videos are fantastic. After having completed the installation, I would find it very easy to install next time. If you are a carpenter, it get 5 stars for installation. This is a 5 star product. Great quality. Great instructions (online videos). It took me a bit longer to do this (I'm approaching 70). But I did complete it and am very happy with it. At first I questioned the value. The differential was over 25% more expensive than wooden. However further research on the soft open/close feature convince me that this is a fair price and a great value for what I received. I am a happy customer.

Exactly what you’re looking for
Great quality wheels have bearings so should last a long time. Soft close features work great. Instruction a bit confusing and you don’t want to mess them up but there’s plenty of YouTube videos to help you. I was able to do a professional job as a DIYer

Good product
Quality is good, installation instructions can be a-bit confusing regarding height measurements. This is my second purchase, all in all a good product.

Pocket door frame
This frame assembly was very easy to cut to size and install with the help of their online tutorials provided on the website. A little more expensive, but Way better built than other brands I looked at. Worth the money. And the soft close and open features are great!

Missing parts
Item is well made and better than what a locally available frame is. The problem is the shoes that mount on the floor were missing. I needed them immediately as drywall was starting today! Nothing available anywhere. I made my own parts with a protection plate. Worked fine.

This is the kit you want.
I got the door installed a couple months ago. The soft close feature is wonderful. It is unlikely I will ever install another pocket door, but if I did, this is the kit I would seek out, to do so.

Great product, lousy seller
I purchased 2 of these pocket door frames. One was complete but the other one, as others have noted, came without some parts. I contacted the seller and their solution was for me to contact Johnson Hardware and if there was any cost, they would reimburse me. Johnson Hardware was great - they quickly sent out the pieces without cost. However, in my opinion, it should have been the seller doing the leg work, not me. Beyond that, the frame was easy to install, the rollers are smooth, the soft-close works great. I would not hesitate to use this frame again; however, next time I will buy it direct from Johnson Hardware!
