The product name is a bit vague. This is not an encasement, it is a cover, like a basic mattress pad. Unlike allergy mattress encasements that go all the way around the mattress/box spring and have a secure zipper closure, this cover fits only over the top and corners, just like a mattress pad would. Having said that, it does have an absorbent quality on top (to the touch it feels like a soft towel) and the corners fit over a very deep mattress, which is nice. The corners are also not an allergy-proof material of any kind. Like a normal mattress pad, the corners are a shear, stretchy, netting material. So basically, in terms of allergy protection/bed bug barriers just think of this more as laying a piece of material on top of your bed and then placing your sheets over it like normal. They are high quality (as they should be for the price I paid) but since I bought them to protect my bed from me and me from it, I believe my money would have been better spent elsewhere. Update: Not more than 2 days after I wrote my original review I spilled a HUGE cup of bright red fruit punch all over my bed by mistake- 52 ounces to be specific. The sheets and blanket went into the washing machine immediately as I kept stripping the bed as fast as I could. In all fairness, I do have a total allergy encasement protector over my mattress UNDER this mattress pad and that probably would have prevented the punch from getting to and staining the mattress IF it had even gotten to the allergy encasement but there wasn't so much as a drop- not damp- not pink- NOTHING! I stand by my review in terms of this being a mattress pad and not a full-allergy protection piece HOWEVER, this is one WONDERFULLY absorbent mattress pad. When my cup spilled all 52 ounces, of course, basically all pooled to the center of the bed where I had been lounging. All 52 ounces ended up staining (temporarily, until it was washed) an area only about one foot wide and 2 feet long- that's a lot of liquid in a very small area and yet, this mattress pad contained it all, which is very good since this kind of punch is known for its ability to stain. In fact, I was barefoot at the time that I spilled my drink everywhere and even after a shower the bottoms of my feet and cuticles were still a bit tinted but my mattress and it's encasement were perfectly fine and totally dry so my review is now going to 5 stars for this product's absorbency.

What an excellent product and an equally excellent buy! We just purchased a new King size mattress, and I think I've researched mattress protectors as much as the mattress itself. The mattress we chose was more than we had wanted to spend 0 aren't they all? So protecting it without sacrificing comfort was the goal. After searching Amazon and other stores and sites I kept coming back to the Sleep - Tite. It's everything it promises to be and more. The protector has just enough cushion to add a little extra comfort to any mattress, it fits our 11.5' thick king perfectly and protects the sides as well. In addition, it's beautifully made with quality stitching, no loose threads and extra box stitching along the corners and sides. The pad is completely silent, there is no "crinkle' whatsoever and it doesn't sleep hot as the material breathes. I am in the midst of surgical menopause and also have a topper on my bed that is about 4" thick. Even with a pillow top mattress and my topper, this mattress protector fits! With hot flashes and an occasional night sweat, this is great. We needed a new cover because we bought one from a big box store and ended up wearing a hole in it at the feet (restless legs perhaps). The other cover lasted about 2 years but was a complete mess when we replaced it with this one. This cover is in an entirely different class of mattress cover and seems extremely durable. The ONLY place where I think it might show some wear over time (or may rip) is with the material on the sides. The material allows for a lot of stretching which is great with elastic all around. The material on the sides is a fine mesh. It's definitely a nice cover. I am giving it 5 stars because of the price and the quality. Also because it comes with a 15 year guarantee! You can't beat that. The top is a terrycloth material which has something on the backside that keeps it waterproof and allergen proof -- a big plus without dealing with TOTALLY having to encase your mattress. Kudos!

I was definitely expecting a softer, and more plush, mattress protector. But I'm still very happy wit what I got. It doesn't make noise, you can't even tell it's there! I was VERY careful washing, and I decided to hang dry, because of the reviews I read. I think that may be why it's not as soft as described. But I put sheets over it anyway, so I'd rather it not get ruined in the dryer. It fits PERFECTLY on my memory foam/gel mattress. But the sides do seem rather thin and delicate, so I'm sure to be careful when putting this cover on. We live in a particularly rainy area of Maui, in Hawaii. So I needed something waterproof to protect the memory foam. Also, it can get quite hot some nights which causes a lot of sweating. ANY kind of moisture destroys memory foam, so I didn't want to take any chances. This product works very well for our needs. I deducted the star because of the thin sides. I can see how easily they could rip. And also because I have to hang dry. I don't understand why this company refuses to honor the warranty because someone followed the directions and dried the pad. One reviewer said they told her the dryer had caused "microscopic holes". Sounds strange to me that it would invalidate the warranty when this product is marketed as having "microscopic holes", so that it's breathable (which it is, by the way). Anyway, I'm not going to do anything to revoke the warranty because the warranty is one of the main reasons I chose this mattress protector over others. BOTTOM LINE : Product is/works as described I am happy with this purchase I would purchase again I would recommend to family and friends Overall, a good, quality, water resistant mattress protector. And great for memory foam!

If they've maintained the same level of performance and quality as what I purchased ~7yrs ago, buy with no hesitation. I'm about to find out with two King size versions. I purchased their mattress protectors at about the same time. They too are still in use, performing like new. I've tested them a few times over the years by holding them under running water and they're still 100% waterproof. The exterior has held up well, doesn't make noise with head movement as some cheaper pillow protectors will. I'd suggest using these first to cover the pillow followed by a zippered pillow case and then a regular pillow case. Max comfort and although they don't make any noise with head movement, a zippered case will take it to the next level, make the pillow feel a a bit more comfortable. . The zippers are still performing well too, a common point of failure with lesser pillow protectors. Truly an outstanding product. They cost more than a lot of lesser protectors but if you have expensive pillows, they're worth every penny and given their long service life, probably more cost effective over the long run. Highly recommended product, happy customer.

I rated this five stars. It has a really nice terry cloth cover. There are two layers on the top cover. The top layer is a cotton, polyester blend. The second layer is a vinyl type material, which is the layer for liquid spills. The remainder of the cover is a elastic polyester, nylon material that stretches around the side area and down around the bottom area of the mattress. I bought this just to protect the top of my new memory foam mattress. It's a true to fit for a deep pocket mattress. The deep pockets on this cover, it will fit up to a 16" mattress height. My mattress is 12", and the cover will stretch around another 4". I plan on adding a 4" memory foam topper, on top of my mattress. I do believe, this will fit over the whole mattress with the memory foam mattress top. I will let you know, if this cover stretches over the extra top part, with the extra foam on top of my mattress. It's a nice cover. I don't worry about getting warm with the mattress cover. Only because I have a sheet and thick blanket on top of the mattress cover. We are unusual sleepers in our house. We sleep on top of the bedspread with separate blankets. My husband hogs the blankets. He's a restless sleeper, obviously. He always took my side of the blankets, and I woke up cold every single night. I use to keep a separate blanket at the foot of the bed, but I was getting tired waking up cold to get the extra blanket. So we sleep with our own separate blankets. Now that I am older, I run hot all the time. So I wouldn't know if the cover would be adding to the warmth. Anyway, it's a nice mattress cover. I would like to get a zipper type mattress cover for protection, but this will do for now.

I recently purchased a new memory foam mattress topper. I decided I wanted to get a mattress protector for this at the same time. If anybody has ever read my Amazon reviews, you know that I do a lot of research when it comes to quality, reading other reviews, and checking prices. After reading the reviews for this mattress protector I ordered it. Wouldn't you know that within one week I woke up in the morning with a severe bloody nose! That has never happened before, but it did. I got out of bed and I looked down and I had bled on to my sheets and onto the mattress protector. I immediately removed the sheets for washing and I took the mattress protector and blotted it and then washed that. Afterward there was not one bit of evidence that there had been anything spilled on it. It was absolutely perfect. This was an immediate way to tell what a quality product it is. The fit is perfect, the elastic is good and it does a great job.

I thought this was a mattress protector for dust mites, bed bugs etc. This is not. This is a protector sheet that has elastic sides, just like a regular sheet. What I was seeking was the zip tight protector that fits around the entire mattress like a protective cover. I actually bought the set I wanted at a large warehouse club (my fav) which included a protector - not as nice as this one but it had the zip feature which is like putting your mattress in a pillow case and zipping shut. Even though I only have foam in my mattress so bedbugs cannot live inside it - they can live on the outside and I want to protect mine, plus I am allergic to dust as well. Although this product is advertised as protection for dust mites - only the one with a zipper is real protection - so don't get fooled like I did. But it is very nice as a protective cover above the zip sheet and will protect that, especially me with my 4 cats. I put the zip protection sheet for dust mites and bedbugs set on first then the included waterproof cover and this on top because this has a terry cotton top which is very nice and this way the real protector underneath is less likely to get damaged from my 4 little rascals who run havoc over my bed and everywhere else. I can't keep up with the nail cutting but I do clip occasionally. They are not really scratching me or my furniture on purpose - sometimes the nails get caught. They do have 2 nice carpeted cat structures which they love and use daily. Point is this product is guaranteed to do something it cannot. Now as an overall cover on top of a real mattress protector to protect that - fine - it is very nice, but anything that doesn't entirely cover the entire mattress is not doing dust mite or bedbug or any insect protection, the only covers that will do that are the zip lock material covers for the entire mattress - and do not go cheap. I discovered that the price for the zip lock protector sheet here is about the same as the warehouse version which includes pillowcase and mattress protector and is also famous brand. Don't go cheap here! Go for quality. The reason I gave 3 stars is because this is a decent product but not what you need if you have allergies to dust mites or other stuff or if you want protection from bedbugs built in. This situation with bedbugs is everywhere now and from what I understand - you can pick up anyplace, the train, the bus, school, movies, the library, or even on the bottom of your shoes and to make things worse, you can even get from a neighbor, plus not everyone is aware they have until they are totally infested because not everyone's skin is affected by the bites. The affect from the bites depends on how allergic a reaction your skin has to the bite and not everyone is sensitive to it. So be better safe than sorry if you have children or travel. Prepare your self and read the tips and guidelines. From what I understand 1 in 5 New Yorkers has been hit and this is not just here in the city - now it's across the U.S. Take care and don't let the bed bugs bite!

I bought this for my toddler and am impressed with the fit and sound of the protector. I was worried that it would sound crinkly or plastic-like but it is very quiet and you don't notice it is on the bed. It also has a very nice tight fit on the standard depth mattress so you don't have to worry about sliding and bunching. GREAT product for the price! We haven't had an accidents yet to test it's water-proofness, but the other functions are great. *update This is waterproof :) It also washes very easily in the machine. So very low maintenance. I will say that when you go to take it out of the washer, watch that there isn't a bunch of water pooled in the pockets as the PUL does a great job at keeping the water from leaking out and it may not have drained during the cycle! Once it is dry, it looks just like new. Definitely has been worth the price for quality, washability and function.

This is a good mattress pad considering it's waterproof and therefore has to be a bit plastic-y. It feels quite crinkly in your hand, but once it's on the mattress I don't notice any crinkle or stiffness. With sheets over it, it still feels a bit harder or smoother than if the sheet was on the mattress alone, but overall it's an excellent trade-off for the kind of protection it offers. I haven't washed it yet, so I can't comment on how it holds up to washing/ drying.

I don't eat or drink in bed so I don't know about spillage - but this does a great job keeping sweat from touching the mattress top. Any odor stays in this protector and the mattress still smells new. I used to use a painters sheet ( dust mite allergy) - but after a bit they got wrinkly and not comfortable to sleep on. I didn't know these mattress protectors existed until my last mattress purchase that required me to have one for a return policy - I now have two different protectors for different mattresses. I'm actually glad I have this one now and it's great, it had no odor from day one. Great quality too. I wash in cold water and hang it to dry.

Though I admittedly haven't risked my expensive new bed to see if this product works as advertised, I did do some research and watched some YouTube demonstrations before making my purchase. When doing my research, I came across many claims that similar products produce noise. Some very noisy and others not so much. It has to do with the material on the underside of the mattress protector that actually keeps the allergens, liquids, etc... from seeping through and into your mattress. I ordered a full/double sized mattress protector and it wraps around my very thick mattress with room to spare for an even thicker mattress. So far, it's done it's job and is very comfortable to lay on. The top is made of terry-cloth and feels like a bath towel but you'll hardly notice it once you put a sheet over top. I haven't had any comfort or noise issues when I sleep. Definitely worth the buy and it's cheaper than most retail options. When I bought my mattress, the retailer attempted to sell me a much more expensive mattress protector that after buying this one, I determined to be practically the same product but from a different brand. They feel the same and perform the same task, only this one was half the price. Keep in mind though, that the 15 year warranty that is advertised on this product only covers your mattress if this product is purchased on the same invoice as the mattress. Not doing so will void the warranty. I haven't spoken to anyone at the company to see if the product itself is still covered under the 15 year warranty but the wording of the terms is quite confusing. It makes mention of the warranty covering the mattress but doesn't clarify if that also voids the warranty of the product itself. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to extend the life of their mattress or to protect their mattress warranty.

I bought this one to replace the one I had bought from Sleep Country as I found it too hot, waking up every morning feeling sweaty is far from pleasant. A review here had indicated that I would not feel hot (as they're like a furnace and have no problem). In my experience, that's totally false. It's not much better than the one I originally purchased from Sleep Country. It's lighter but no more quiet or breathable than the one I had. So while it's not a waste of money for someone who hadn't had a mattress cover, this one was a waste of money for me.
